2019 trading, drafting and list management: players and personnel
Does anyone have a summary of our picks as at the moment
I have forgotten them
Apologies
Here we go:
Indicative draft order Draft Pick #
SYD 5 Sydney Swans
SYD 26 Sydney Swans
SYD 41 Sydney Swans
SYD 51 Sydney Swans
SYD 55 Sydney Swans
SYD 59 Sydney Swans
SYD 77 Sydney Swans
I have made a spreadsheet with all of last year trade picks linked via vlookup to the weekly ladder.
If you want all the picks, happy to provide!
I remember when many pundits thought we would take Cutler with our pick 32 in the 2013 national draft. I would have been happy if we did take Cutler, (who went to Brisbane on the very next pick), although I was more pleased that we took Hewett instead. I also liked Kolodjasjmij at that pick, who went to Geelong at pick 41. It worked out well, because we took Aliir at pick 44.
The history behind us, I do think Cutler would be a good pickup if we could orchestrate a trade. He's a big versatile midfielder who would add to our depth to the team and could well be in mix for our best 22. We are sitting with 3 third round picks this year, including Carlton's 3rd rounder, which might be enough to pull off a trade if we make an offer to Cutler where we are his chosen club.
That article also points out that Rupert Wills, an inside mid at Collingwood, could be a target. Surely we would be looking closely at either him or Sier.

Don't we also have St.Kilda 2nd round pick from the Hannebery trade? That would be pick 29 ATM.
Based on tonight let Jones go for a first round pick - no brains
It is ok that he takes the game on, but he runs straight at an opponent then tries to dodge at the last instant and invariably gets caught. And he does this when clear running into the forward line and wastes the footy. I can imagine the forwards saying, "here we go again". Not an instinctive player.

Today he had a poor game but his preparedness to take some risks and take opponents on usually pays more dividends than it did today. He just needs to find a better balance (than today) between taking the first option and trying to take opponents on. Sometimes players - all players - just have bad days, and this was one for Jones.
