Doesn't matter if he knew about her disabilities or not - it's just another example of a bully putting someone else down for his own gratification. Indigenous Ausssies, women, gays, non-Christians and, now, the disabled have been on the receiving end of his "sparkling wit." Is there any group of people that are different to him that he hasn't "joked" about?

Perhaps you should have a listen to your own good self.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

This guy is absolutely shameless. After saying this about Cynthia Banham's coin toss ....
“I think we should introduce a $5000 fine to anybody who’s tossing the coin and can’t do it properly,”
“Every week, we have someone dropping it on their foot. Come on, toss it up properly, for goodness sake. Practise in the week, you know you’re going to do it. It can’t be that hard can it, guys?”
..... how can he then have the hide to subsequently "apologise" by saying this?
“It had nothing to do with Cynthia Banham, who was the coin tosser tonight at the SCG and has a disability,” the Collingwood president said.“I just want to apologise if this was communicated in the wrong way, I did not mean to offend anyone, especially Cynthia, and I apologise unreservedly to her, her family and friends, Swans supporters and anybody watching tonight who took it that way.
Sorry you smarmy sack of crap but it had EVERYTHING to do with Cynthia Banham. It was a comment made specifically about Cynthia Banham, immediately after and prompted specifically and solely by her coin toss. How can you say it had nothing to do with her?
And what exactly do you mean by saying you "apologise IF this was communicated in the wrong way"? Is there some doubt about whether this was good communication? If so, perhaps you might enlighten us about what IS the right way to criticise a double leg amputee who uses a walking stick for not tossing the coin perfectly? And perhaps explain how talking about the coin "dropping on their foot" IS potentially appropriate in the circumstances.
You made a horrible mistake Eddie. How about you just be a big enough man to own it, humbly and genuinely admit your horrible mistake and offer a genuine apology, minus the weasel words, self-justification and corporate "if I misspoke" type crap. (I think the word "humbly" holds the key here - not a familiar emotion perhaps.) You may be large in influence and girth Eddie but at the moment you appear to be an extremely small man indeed.
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm tipping he basically gets no flack over this one and nobody really asks him to explain his alleged "apology" in more detail. The Melbourne media (Caro Wilson excepted) is terrified of him.
Caro has two bob each way on Eddie - always fids an out for him, just like all other Melbourne journos.Comment

He didn't realise but his loud, arrogant, opinionated mouth has made a total fool of himself again. Mouthing off about the coin toss FFS!Comment

Seriously caj23, this is not the place for blind Eddie defending.....why do you like him? I am assuming you like him with all this weird defending of him. He's an asshole and a bigot! Where have you been for the last 15 years?Comment

Everyone is making too big a deal about this. Her disability is irrelevant. Newsflash; she did do a really bad coin toss; just like nearly all guest tossers do. Just because she is disabled why should everyone jump on Eddie about his comment. Don't get me wrong, I hate McGuire as much as anyone but people who believe they are the PC Police jumping on McGuire about this are just wrong.Comment

I watched the Foxtel coverage of the game & saw Eddie ranting about the coin toss tonight and why the nominated people can't do something that isn't hard properly. After the add break he was forced to make an apology because the coin tosser tonight is an amputee & no 1 Swans ticket holder Cynthia Banham, a former journalist.
I think he already is!Comment

As agreed to by most....yet another disgusting effort from McChins as was his 'apology' which was actually so shallow, it was no such thing. Equally disappointing is this excuse making and enabling from Social Services Minister Paul Fletcher, who said 'he did not think' McGuire intended to offend Ms Banham.
"I'm absolutely confident there was no malice intended, I know that Eddie apologised immediately," he said.
"Can I say, I think all Australians admire Cynthia Banham.
"And can I also say if this incident reminds all of us of some of the challenges that Australians with disability face, and increases awareness of those issues, I think that will be a good thing."
That last sentence is just patronising BS!! It seems that Eddie has actually done people with disabilities a favour folks! Sheese....I am simply flabbergasted at what people in power let this guy get away with and the BS excuses they dig up to make allowances for him.
For a guy who "never means any offence", how many 'apologies' has McChins had to offer in the last ten years....I'm losing count.Last edited by stevoswan; 30 March 2019, 12:56 PM.Comment

The fact that the person he belittled has physical disbilities and he didn't even notice makes him a stupid, insensitive bully.Last edited by Sandridge; 30 March 2019, 01:38 PM.Comment

In a way, you're right. The disability is irrelevant. The point is that - for no reason other than him wanting to be the smart, funny guy - he chose to belittle an innocent person on national television. That makes him a bully.
