On the "Back Page" last night I thought Adam Spencer got it right when he said everyone makes mistakes on TV such as what Eddie did (believing his version of events), but added the problem with Eddie was his first attempt at apologising on the night came across as shallow and insincere. Had he apologised like he did yesterday morning on his MMM radio show, then he would've been fine.

Yep, Ralphy is a perfect example of the kind of nuff nuff who depends on sycophancy rather than analysis to make a living. He can catch public transport by himself and can maintain personal hygiene on his better days but that's about where his capabilities end.

Notice Robbo is angling for Hird, who was expelled from the boys club, to be included again and to come back as Essendon coach. Bizarre, incestuous environment. Weirdsville!

Notice Andrew Demetriou, a past member of the boys club, is involved in an allegedly shonky operation under investigation. Melbourne media treading lightly it seems.

Just ban Hird for life. The damage he did to the code was immeasurable. Its crazy that he's allowed within 100m of an AFL club.

Charlie Gardiner was on SEN this morning He sounded a lot more polished than when I first heard him, in fact he sounded like a Tom Harley clone! They bought up Eddie's coin crossing remarks again and you can tell from Charlie's demeanoured response that the club is still very angry and pointing out Cynthia Banham is still upset about it. Appears the club and Cynthia have not accepted Eddie's apology, most likely due to Eddie's past form and also probably not happy with the lack of action from the AFL on Eddie, as the club as initially pushing.

Good article in Age this morning likening Eddie to Mr Magoo! Malcolm Knox I think.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Had he just put out a proper apology in a written statement straightaway, and then withdrawn from his broadcasting duties for a period of time (given that he attributed his blunder to being tired and overworked), it would have been much easier to forgive him.

You'd think he'd have had enough practice apologising by now to get it right first time.
For those non-techies, I thought I let you know that Eddie has one of those new fandangled Robo-apologisers, specially designed for gaffeholics.

IMO, Eddie needs to get his reprogrammed with the Kevin Rudd version 2.0

Here is the story of yesterday's SEN interview with Charlie Gardiner, except they've mistaken Charlie for Tom Harley! It was definitely Charlie as he was introduced as such by Whately. During the same interview Dermie had recounted a 2006 match where Gardiner was playing on a young Buddy, who kicked an amazing goal on Gardiner which left him stunned. Gardiner remembered that goal very clearly as he ended up with a torn hamstring as a result!

And it was unfortunate that somebody gave him a microphone.

And yes, Eddie, just because you were born, due to an unfortunate sequence of events (which cannot be repeated on this website), why does Australia have to suffer from a collective post natal depression?
