Pies threw it away last night, particularly 2nd quarter. Dozens of inside 50s for one goal. It would have been nice to have seen a few shots of a McGuire meltdown.

Port's youngsters -Duursma, Butters , Rose and Marshall did well. Watts had a good game off half-back. Port ran on a lot of the time, except when leaving the back 50 later in the game. Everyone looked really tired by the third quarter. There was a fair bit of fumbling. I wish we had Justin Westhoff. It's interesting that the new rules haven't brought high scores this round. I don't think there was a hard tag on Viney and Oliver, but they were outclassed.Comment

Baz, they run a little deeper than that. Sidebottom , adams , treloar de goey, GRUNDY, potential - Moore , Stephenson , COX

- The new rules are not producing the higher scoring projected by the AFL.
- The 2018 draft class is looking exceptional. I can't remember the last time so many rookies have played so well in debut games.
- The first round is always hard to predict. For punters, probably a good round to take all the underdogs. Hopefully not the under Dogs we play today.
- Clarko is worth 5 first round draft picks.
- Pressure and fitness still king.
- I can never remember the 1st game skill level from prior years, but skills look way down so far. Maybe dropping to 2 pre-season games has some impact.

As a Hawthorn hater, I'm not enjoying what the Crows are dishing up. Their forward half play has been woeful. Constantly missing targets and only three forward fifty tackles, by three-quarter time. Ugghh!Comment

Eagles were far worse than us. Very passive with no semblance of a fightback.Comment
