Bulldogs come from behind at 3QT to beat Cats.

Free kicks 28 - 13. Can you guess who got the 28?

Bruce McAvaney gushing about them and making references to 2016!

Interesting stat from tonights Cats v Fairypups game. Free kick count 28 - 13 to the 'pups (business as usual) and Bontempelli got seven frees all by himself.....

Post edit: I'll go further.....comparing the midfielders. Figures are 'frees for and against'

      Cats: Dangerfield 1-1, Kelly 0-4, Selwood 2-4, Duncan 0-2.....totals 3 for, 11 against.

      Pups: Bontempelli 7-2, Hunter 2-0, Dunkley 5-1, McCrae 3-1.....totals 17 for, 4 against.

      Armchair ride......

Wow, I can't remember that game....

Seriously though, you are right......they had something like a +38 free kick differential over the four finals games alone!

Lions doing well at Spotless against the Giants. 20 pts up at the moment. Can they keep it up?

Yes they can. Almost home now. I'm really enjoying watching the Blions play this year. Charlie Cameron is so much fun to watch in particular.

Yes, loved the bit where he streaked on to the ball about 60 metres out, tapped it to himself, gathered, sprinted, bounced, sprinted some more, then speared a pass to an unsuspecting McStay, who almost looked like he was going to take evasive action, but instead, grabbed the ball and goaled. The Lions are my second favourite team at the moment.

We don't get to see too many Lions games in NSW, live or on TV. Just caught the last quarter today and really enjoyed what I saw. They seem to have a "just try to get it forward and goal" mentality, which really works. Solid defending too.

And yes, Cameron seems to be one of those players like Betts, who fans of all teams can like and enjoy.

Didn't catch too much else this weekend, but had to send commiserations to my cousin in Perth after she posted photos of her Dockers-mad family all decked out in colours ready for the game!

                      Two observations from today:
                      1) the lions are the real deal
                      2) the giants should counter offer horse $6m to stay in Sydney, just a bit west. Leon Cameron will not deliver them a flag.

Apparently 12500 at lions GWS game. Looked easily less than 10000. And that's for 4 v 5 with both sides capable of playing attractive footy. As a fan of the game, I would turn out to watch guys like Kelly, Coniglio, Cameron, Greene, Neale, Zorko, Charlie etc. If they can't get a crowd to this, imagine what will happen if their premiership window closes, they start losing players and keep GC company at the bottom of the ladder?

Were you there, Ralph? I was, and was a bit surprised when they announced the crowd figure. I was thinking it was more like about 9K-10K.
But then on Saturday, we were at the MCG to see our game and sitting with my longtime Bombers fan mate, and he swore black and blue there
weren't more than 50K at the game, and they announced the crowd at 60K. Maybe it's AFL policy to add on 20% to the actual figure, ala League.
Man, the Lions looked pretty good. You could tell in the first ten mins how switched on they were, and how if they kept it up (which they did)
they would win. Not convinced the GWS are going to fall off a cliff anytime soon though. They bat pretty deep.

I went to the game (got there just before half time) and thought that it was a bigger crowd than I expected, but by 4th quarter many had left.
I think 12,000 represented the initial crowd.

Giants had half decent crowds (7 or 8000) when they were rubbish, so there is a pretty hard floor of support.

But I agree, should be getting many more at this stage of their development.

They bat deep on their list.....just not in their heads it seems.

It's hard for people to suddenly love a team that they didn't grow up with. GWS have to achieve success over at least a generation to last into the future......good luck with that. They have massive challenges ahead.....
