        Beat me to it

Guess not even the AFL could spin something so universally ridiculed.

I always thought that the idea of AFLX was to make a came that could be played in a rectangular field, so fans are close to the action, and a lot more grounds are opened up (especially in NSW/QLD and the rest of the world).

Stupidly, the AFL decided to play it at Marvel stadium, which means it just looked stupid. Should have played it at the soccer ground next to the MCG, or the old Allianz stadium in Sydney, or Suncorp stadium.

              Gill should be sacked.

AFL and Gill make many blunders but are a protected species in terms of accountability. His coffee with Clarkson, his belated reaction to Goodes issue and the behaviour awareness fiasco just some of the own goals. Indecisive and reactive. Who has the power to sack him? AFL relies on intimidation and we know how vindictive they are.

Contacted until the end of next year, apparently. I hope Hocking isn't next in line - his instincts don't seem any better.

Is Gillon McLachlan’s time as AFL CEO coming to an end?

Thanks for link. Mike Sheahan echoing a lot of others. Gale sure to be better than McLachlan but still a Vic. Is there an unwritten agreement that the CEO has to be Victorian until 2057?

McLachlan reminds me of that quote about Bill Shorten. "Created by a committee that stopped caring halfway thru the meeting"....

Doesn’t purgatory suggest its future is undecided?

Nup. Means AFLX is there to suffer for its sins of being a boring abomination of football. It can only re-emerge when it is cleansed of any future incarnation of big bash footy.

                              McLachlan is from SA.
