At the AGM today I asked about the club's ownership structure. After the AFL bailed us out 30 years ago they took over control and ownership of the club. According to the club's constitution, this is a 'transitional arrangement'. However, decades have passed and there has been no movement on this front and we never hear about it. What's the story?

Andrew Pridham replied. He said it was a situation of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". He also said that since we are owned and controlled by the AFL it's really up to them whether to change this situation. I thought the inference was that it's working out fine for them and so there's no likelihood of this changing for the foreseeable future, thus rendering the idea of this being a "transitional arrangement" a furphy.

Then again, it has been working pretty well. And Pridham also volunteered that the club is able to operate completely independently and they don't feel fettered by the AFL.
