Hmm, don't know why it gave me two quotes for the price of one, in the above post?

Can we also applaud the coaches in coming up with effective plans to curtail a number of Norf's key play makers, and applaud the players that carried out those plans.
McLean seems to have footy smarts and looks to be a worthwhile player whilst we're short of KPF. Also stops Aliir being put in danger when having to ruck.
Still think Dawson should be on a wing or high HF, think he's wasted in the backlines, doesn't look a natural defender to me. Bring in Gould to HB and move Dawson forward to replace McCartin.Comment

Papley was outstanding. King of the smalls and you could see Sqizzy and Heens just lift with his dynamism. He reminds me alot of Paul Chapman in his prime at the Cats. If Carlton or anyone else wants him at season's end, they will need to trade the house. I wouldn't even hand him over for Sam Walsh if they put him on the table (which they won't).Comment

Also agree regarding McLean, Allir and Dawson.
Really, I know North missed some easy ones too, but we should have been well over 40 points in front half way through the last quarter. The three set shots were all straightforward, close and by generally good kicks for goal. Kennedy’s should have been an absolute gimme. All in all, the future looks bright, and that was a great win against a team in form, on their patch.Comment

Dawson's kicking out of defence today was so good; especially as the designated kicker after behinds, but also going forward. We've understood the theory behind him playing defence, but today is the first time it's really worked. Certainly much better than Mills in that designated kicker role.Comment

The other thing going forward watching McLean today is that role of a big bodied forward.
It helps our players kick to a contest, helps our fleet of smalls have a spot to run too, lets Heeney play a bit higher and get into the game and takes pressure of McCartin or Blakey to play true key forward for now. (Plus, as someone else pointed out, leaves Aliir out of the ruck).
When Naismith comes back, I hope either Sinclair or McLean play key forward. Structurally, it helps a lot particularly with Bud or Reid out.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

The past two weeks are going to be the story of the season. A young side will show promise and inconsistencies in output like they have. Lots to be excited for longer term.
Hewitt on Higgins was significant. Gray on Pittard was almost as important. All his touches were cheap or under pressure, with 5 clangers.
Sinclair can only play if Naismith doesn't. How was the set up for their final goal with a 30m spoil towards our own goal. McLean the better prospect.
Huge play by Mills late in the 3rd to leave Ziebell and win a contest in the middle of the ground, late in the 3rd. Wasn't much of an impact outside of that, but was a telling moment.
Hayward needs a spell. His goal kicking is dreadful, and he's having no impact on games with disposals or tackles. Needs to stop reading his own reviews.Comment
