I was impressed by Taylor's courage and poise. He flew at the packs and laid some bumps. His ambition and commitment is made clear in that article on the official site detailing his upbringing and it's also clear in his play.

The mark aside, I liked the moment he had the ball from a free kick (I think) just outside defensive 50. He wasn't flustered, he waited for the option and then hit Aliir with a perfect pass on the lead just outside attacking 50. It led to a goal. He had three score involvements.

I am excited by him and really looking forward to watching him play next.

Elijah clearly has talent. What I liked most was his intent. He just looked confident, like he belonged there, unlike Warner and Stephens who both looked tentative. It's important he progresses as he can free Heeney to play midfield.

He's a good size, bigger than I expected. A nice start.

Rankine, on the other hand, was everything the media were hoping for - just electrifying every time he went near the footy, and not a little 'tood to go with it! Going to be fun watching his journey; this season thank the lord for small mercies like this.

I thought his debut was a bit up and down, but I thought he was pretty adventurous with his kicking - sometimes it paid off others not - but he was not afraid to use the corridor.
