I wonder what Trevor Keogh said to him.

Velour&Ruffles: Another example of how pathetic and hollow the AFL's Indigenous Round is. It is self-aggrandising, corporate PR bullcrap. Don't mistake it for anything meaningful.

KTigers: There is nothing inherently wrong with having the Indigenous Round, but it's been a very hollow exercise since the AFL's inaction
over the racist treatment of Adam during the last few years of his footy career.

neiffws: This "free the flag" business is also more complicated than the AFL are making it out to be. According to this thread they are quite welcome to use the flag - just not to profit from selling clothing that features it.
Couldnt agree more. The AFL's virtue signalling on racism is in stark contrast to their actual behaviour.

The other day some AFL executive was saying they would do things "differently" if they had the Goodes saga again. But gave no indication of what they would actually do. At the time, abandoning games, losing premiership points, removing fans were dismissed as totally impossible. Covid-19 has shown these things are actually pretty easy to do, if you have the will.

        Statement from Robert Muir
Summary: he appreciates the support he's received. He needs some personal space for now.

There is always going to be a pall hanging over the AFL for the way they stood around and did nothing as Adam was run out of the game.
And he was run out of the game. He didn't want to play anymore because of the way he was treated. And now, five years later, he still
doesn't want to have anything to do with footy.
The AFL saying five years later they would "do things differently" counts for little. I mean, would they? I doubt it. Maybe having a new
bunch of excuses for doing nothing will count as "doing things differently" to them.

I've maybe frozen this thread again (?) by putting up an ABC link, which retitled itself 'iview' again! I've done this post by quoting an earlier post then removing the quote.....hopefully it does post and the thread is back to normal.

I read the article on the ABC news site. I was gobsmacked - the poor man. I was crying as I read through the article and I'm a white bloke on the wrong side of 50. He's had to endure so much. I hope other indigenous players come forward now to tell their stories. Shameful episode in VFL/AFL history.

It appears that Wayne Carey thinks his indigenous.
Geez, I hope he doesn't get racially vilified.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
