I’ve been badly out of form since taking on Grade 4 Brain Cancer in 2015. I used to post a lot and was very passionate. Around 2012 I banned myself from watching live (on the tele) because things were getting broken! Have to stay calm or the cancer grows. Frontal Lobe issues (from tumour) really exacerbated mood/anger issues so I stopped even watching (except for wins on replay). This year has been great as I’ve managed to learn to keep some psychological distance while watching the games and I’ve actually managed to enjoy all the games. Miracle. Anyway the purpose of the post was to suggest that maybe I am longest serving member as I joined in November 2002...I remember it because we had missed finals and I was really keen to see who we
might draft or trade...and wanted to know if Mark McVeigh’s brother might go alright for us ????
EDIT my profile says January 2003 so maybe memory not perfect

Lovely to read your post, S9. My wife sometimes worries about neighbours' reactions to the roaring they hear when I'm watching Swans live! Occasionally I record when I'm a bit agitated and then I revel in the win or very quickly delete. All the best to you.

That must be extremely disconcerting. Although it sounds like you've managed to accept the umpiring, with a certain equanimity. Well done you.

Yes, as I'm sure I've mentioned before, I'm fairly sure that the neighbours might think that I'm having a domestic with myself, when I'm watching a Swans game, that isn't going quite as I envisaged.

I think that's what Bruce would call a "wretched run with injuries".

Actually I’ve turned it on its head...I now expect (demand even) that we get screwed by the umpires. That way, when it happens I get pumped because I have been vindicated. Everyone loves to be right, right? ????

Ahh, I suspect that we have quite different reactions, when we see Matt Stevic running on to the field.

My lifetime goal is to get to 10,000 posts. Well, I'm in lock down and can't travel, so I might as well throw the kitchen sink at RWO.

You are only 250 posts off 10,000. Markwebbos does that in a month. Easy.

                          The race to 10,000 posts.

Taking the top 8 posters, it looks a one horse race.

                          1. Nico 9,752 posts, run rate 100/month = 10,000 in Dec 2020

                          2. Markwebbos 4,160 posts, runrate 200/month = 10,000 in Dec 2022
                          3. Ludwig 6,827 posts, run rate 100/month = About December 2022

                          4. barry 7,076 posts, run rate 70/month = March 2024
                          5. Melbourne_Blood 3,029 posts, run rate 160/month = 10,000 in Mar 2024
                          6. mcs 5,549 posts, run rate 80/month = About 2024

                          7. stevoswan 4,642 posts, run rate 100/month = About 2025
                          8. 707 4,509 posts, run rate 80/month = About 2025

                          dejavoodoo44 3,650 posts, run rate 100/month = 10,000 in about 2026

Unless Nico gets hit by a bus, the award is his.
Very interesting race for 2nd. Ludwig has a commanding lead, but Markwebbos travelling at twice his speed. Can he maintain it. Can Ludwig lift his output. Still 2 years to go, a lot can happen. What happens in the off-season. So many questions.

Apologies if I've missed a contender, or if someone already has 10,000.

Not sure anyone would want me to lift my rate to 2,000 a month = 70 a day to try to beat Nico

Barry, if you start a new thread titled The Grand Old Lady Thread, you might be in with a chance to edge out Nico to the 10000 mark. Certainly should be enough to beat out me and Markwebbos.

I reckon you should give it a go man. You've already achieved so much in such a short period of time, 4000+ posts in just
over four years. It's taken me eight years to get to 1,200... a pathetic effort in comparison. The Swans are not in the finals,
so less time wasted actually watching football. You're "working from home" right? The perfect scenario, you'll have a dream
run at the ultimate achievement in football, getting to 10,000 posts on RWO.
