Warner on Dusty when he is in the middle. (look and learn exposure)
Hard tag from Hewitt when he is forward.
Considered Parker as he is hard enough, however the speed may be an issue and we need his drive when it is our turn.
All team approach.
Or no tag at all and just don't kick the ball near him. And heavy tackle from 2 or more players at a time when he collects it!
If you have to much Martin focus the rest of the team will hurt you.Comment

I wouldn't mind that.
Even further left field, but possibly worth considering, is having Wicks tag him. On the plus side, Wicks is probably our best tackler, is very quick, has a big tank and is a bit in your face.
On the negative side, getting in Dusty's face might just make him angry, I'm not sure if Wicks has ever tagged before, and his natural habitat is forward of centre. But hey, it could be fun to watch.Comment

Apologies if this isn’t the right thread but I’ll actually be in melb for the swans game, does anyone know when tickets are available to NSW Swans members?Comment

Gee Runner, don't let evidence get in the way of irrational dislike!
So let me get this straight.
Despite previously marking Wicks as lacking the 'class' to play AFL football, and suggesting he shouldn't be in the team on that basis (i.e. qualitative judgment) despite the performance based measures at that time showing he was performing exceptionally well for his role, now you are suggesting he should be in the team on the basis of performance (something that in terms of footy is by and large based primarily on quantitative measures)?
But then on the other hand for your favourite target, performance doesn't matter? You just roll out lines and lines of descriptive rambling - how come he doesn't get measured on a performance basis as well? Oh that's right, that wouldn't fit your argument would it....
At least your consistent with blakey - going all guns blazing both qualitatively and quantitatively. I really feel you missed your calling in life as a politician - your ability to flip and flop is most definitely 'elite'
A football team coached by you would be amazing to watch, but would be lucky to win a game. It'd be all about the 'dynamic' players, nothing about what is really the critical feature at the end of the day - a combined unit that is as a whole effective. And for that to happen, you need players with a range of skills across the park, some with greater strengths in some areas then others, that as a collective is able to maximise the 'performance' output of the team.
You have previously professed your love for Joey Kennedy - going as far to suggest that it was almost a court martialling offence for him to be named on a team sheet on the bench. Yet there is a player where 'performance' and 'effectiveness' comfortably has well and truly overcome any shortcoming in vague qualitative measures like 'dynamism'. Go have a look at his career stats (AFL Stats Pro - AFL.com.au.) and take a look at the areas where is actually 'below average'....... tells a very interesting story indeed.
And no - I'm not suggesting he who isn't to be named will be as good as Joey Kennedy. And yes, the game is changing - but not enough that there aren't still a variety of different types of players needed to play a variety of different roles.
But it is only your desperation to cling to a log, in the hope a tsunami will wash you to shore and prove you right that you won't take the blinkers off and recognise that your argument against said player has zero credibility on the measures that ultimately count far more than any qualitative dribble - after all, your the one that has said 'I always say performance matters'....
i would be more ok with RB not being a high possession player if he was being more dangerous with the possessions he gets, but little handballs in traffic seems to be the only thing he stands out for. So he needs to be getting double the amount of those little handballs if he is to have an impact on games otherwise you might as well just give his spot to someone who can offer something else , like Stephens who is a running machine , Warner who drives us inside 50 and spins and bursts out of trouble, Mcinerney who is an awesome kick of the footy. I wont say he will never get the amount of possessions necessary to make up for what he doesnt bring to the team because you never know. But just looking at his junior record and his form in AFL so far it is highly unlikely he will be a big possession getter. And you have to ask the question then if we want to compete for flags can we afford a run of the mill inside mid ?? I guess the coaches will decide that when the time comes.Comment

Rampe is the best option for Dusty when Dusty goes forward, but I don't think it's a good option when Dusty plays in the midfield. Rampe has only played as a defender.
Hewett and Cunningham have been our 2 main taggers over recent years. I would like to see Cunningham take Costanza, who has been in good form in the first 2 games. So Hewett looks the best matchup in the midfield. Hewett can drop back with Dusty, but there could be a handover to Rampe.
We are still experimenting with field positions and I think making a special provision to tag a player which would upset what we want to accomplish structurally isn't going to benefit the team longer term. I think we should tag Dusty, but do it within the normal structure of the team setup.
After seeing what a depleted Freo did to GWS, I think the game plan is more important than the personnel. Clarko has been a big proponent of that as well. And I think Longmire would say the same.Comment

I recall seeing graffiti on the brickwork between Toorak and Armadale stations which read "Kerr as Governor General is like having Ron Barrassi as umpire!!!" It was there for at least a decade and it's year of origin is obvious. Sorry to digress and resume normal programming.Comment

There is an article on the swans site for Victorian members and it says tickets for Away team members is Wednesday 10am to 12pm. I'm not sure if NSW members also fall under this category. Maybe contact the club in the morning to check.Comment
