Hickey is joint leader with Mills for our AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award after three rounds (11 votes from max of 30).

I hate to be a downer, but our ruck depth is pretty weak. Perhaps we dont really need a great ruck, but most people would agree that Hickey has been a massive inclusion. For all of our great recruiting to date, we have failed to nail a Max Gawn/Brody Grundy ruck for a good decade now. And we missed out on Jackson last year as well. Conundrum.

Missing out on grundy on current form doesn't look to be a bad thing at all to be perfectly honest. Biggest challenge with ruckman (and don't we know) is consistently keeping them on the park.

How much of the Pies salary cap is being spent on Grundy? You don’t want a star ruckman, someone like Hickey is perfect.

How many Flags have Grundy and Gawn won , they get centre taps at will but the true worth of a ruckman is also what he does around the ground , knowing when to push back as well as becoming a forward target .

Recruit of the year? He’s ranked #8 in the Mongrel Punts current top 50

Time seems to have past sinkers by. Now he's 3rd choice ruckman, and probably behind McLean as tall forward.
                    He may not play again.

Reportedly $1mill per season on a 7 year contract. Another Ned Guy special

Having traded away their first and second picks in this years ND, one can only hope the Pies finish low on the ladder to make trading those out hurt even more :-) GWS have the Pies first rounder, lucky buggers

I have a lot of sympathy for Sinkers; he battled gamely for two years, against premier ruckman, occasionally pulling out a top performance. Geelong at GMHBA Stadium a couple of years ago really stood out. He completely towelled up Stanley in the last quarter.
He’s pretty much run himself into the ground with the amount of work he was required to do.

Right now I'm more concerned about his injury than tonight's result.
