That was the moment where the momentum was lost sadly - just brain dead decision making. I actually think he is an okay 1 on 1 defender, but his decision making with ball in hand is utterly woeful. There is a reason he couldn't get a game in an in decline Hawks team. Okay for depth perhaps, but surely not for long.

Mills was pretty good too. Unfortunately I don't think our reserves are going to get much practice from now on.
Normally I'd think about dropping Amartey but at this stage I'd give him 2 more weeks.Comment

The one big positive from tonight was George. I had him as a definite trade but he reminded us tonight that he is a very good midfielder. There was a touch of Jarrod Lyons in the way he went about his work - no nonsense but effective. We need him moving forward as he and Mills are the bridge from JPK / Parker to RB / Chad. And I thought our ruck combo of Hickey and Amartey held their own, perhaps even pipped the very strong combination of Lycett and Dixon.Comment

I thought it was an entertaining game. They're a team looking to compete this year and we took it right up to them- I'd love it if we compete this year, but realistically we're building for a year or two.
Sucks to lose, but I'm just taking positives from that game.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

We defended okay, tbh, Tommy not great. Lloyd cost us a few. But take away soft free kicks to Dixon and we win.Comment

Florent and Rowbottom would not get games at most clubs in the competition yet we think they are gonna be leading our midfield ?
Joke is really on us
Shame , im concerned. It will effect how we trade and draft if we continue under the illusion that we have a good future midfieldComment

I know Mills has been good in the midfield but our backline has suffered for it. I'd like to see Gould get a run. Great effort by the team but we lost it with some terrible decision making at critical moments. As Stella said, one to learn from.He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

Good effort against a quality side at their home ground. Just a shame that we couldn't keep the momentum going, when it looked like some vintage Buddy would haul us over the line.
I thought Mills was our best and is probably building a decent lead in the Skilton Medal. Parker was his usual hard at the ball self. McInerney was pretty creative and Rowbottom had a good second half. Franklin, Papley and Hayward all looked dangerous, but didn't quite get enough supply to be match winners. Errol made nice use of a limited number of disposals.Comment
