For all the unhinged foaming at the mouth over Warner, how is no one praising McInerney. He has been amazing the last few weeks and was insane tonight for a young player. Big future ahead for him. I'll admit I'm a big fan
Swans v Port.

He's certainly got some ticker and a massive engine. And to think, could even make his schools 1st team.Comment

Cant you just consider for a second that im not "targetting" anyone
They are players i dont rate that highly and they've done nothing this year to convince me
Think ive shown with Hayward, wicks etc that i will admit if i was wrong about a playerComment

I thought our mids and forwards tried hard all night but we really lost the game with our defence. Too many easy free kicks were given away, we were too slow in moving the ball out and our over use of handball in the last qtr cost us dearly. Very frustrating to lose that one.Comment

We had alot of players down tonight but still nearly snuck a win
Brand simply has to make way for Gould . Might as well see if he is up to it .
Bell tries his arse off but I just don't think hes up to it unfortunately.
I've watched Rowbottom closely for a few weeks he fumbles and stands off his apponent at throw ins alot . Give his midfield minutes to Hewitt . He is stagnating not sure if it’s carry over from his knee .
We need some serious class off half back hopefully Campbell when fit can become this guy.
Really like McInerney he has some class and takes the game on . Doesn’t always come off but when it does it usually results in quick transition.
Mills some of his kicks into the forward 50 were super . Really like the move of him into the midfield finally
Parker and Dawson need to be resigned urgently.
Heeney had a bad night it happens . We took to long to get him up around the ball
Florent needs to bridge the gap between his best and worst . 10 touches is simply not enough

Missing the run through midfield and leading to turnovers putting backs under constant pressure.
I’m disappointed with a few. Issac has been MIA for weeks, Ollie is too soft and gets pushed off too easily. His decision making is also poor at times. Trade bait for the latter imho.Comment

The stats won't show it, but Port were a lot better at the physical side of the game and seemed to come out the better more often when the ball was rolling around.
Our composure was really poor. We played some incredibly dumb football after the rains came.
I don't think there was bias in the umpiring, but 51 free kicks is way too much for a footy game, and in reality, plenty more could have been paid.
After the Hawthorn game I have a post about making some radical changes in out defence. After this game, radical was not a strong enough word.
- The best for us were McInerney and Dawson. Mills and Parker were good as well.
- Brand and McCartin were dreadful. McCartin has lost it. It doesn't matter how bad their replacement might be, but we have to do something different.
- It was probably the worst I've seen Lloyd play and Rampe wasn't far behind.
- Gulden looked good in the first qtr, but faded out after that.
- Florent went totally missing, and the few times he did find the ball, nothing good happened.
- A poor effort from Amartey, who picked up a corkie, I think, because I noticed his thigh bandaged in the 2nd half. He also went missing after that.
It would have been nice to win, especially after hitting the lead so close to the end. But it really doesn't matter. We're playing for draft position more than a premiership right now.
It is a worry that we are getting worse as the season moves on.
Covid will take another toll on the finances of the league and the club. It's not a good time for footy.Last edited by Ludwig; 26 June 2021, 07:55 PM.Comment

Bell ran 14.6 kms to be the highest in the game, but only had 8 possessions. So he ran around a lot and did not much. MCCartin looks completely lost at FB and he gives away too many frees. Move back to CHF and time to bring in Gould as he cannot be any worse.Comment

Really happy with Tom Papley. Played the game hard, competed and didn’t worry about officials.
Rewarded with superb 2nd quarter goal. Kept tackling and did a great job.
Keep playing this way Tom.Comment

I thought playing Hewett as a tagger on Boak in the first half worked really well for us, so I’m mystified why he was moved back into defence in the 3rd quarter and Port / Boak got on top.
I thought our defenders, Brand aside, defended OK, but they were put under serious pressure and all, Rampe included found wanting.
Fantastic to have Gulden back. He’s such a smart player. Rarely wares a disposal and his kicking inside 50 is exquisite.
Agree about JMac. He’s the player I want with the ball in his hands. Always looks to attack and uses the ball well.
I know everyone says Kinnear Beatson is a genius etc, and I know we are building, but there are huge holes in our list. When you compare Ports talls to ours they are streets ahead.
I know some on here say we have too many mids, the issue is the quality and how many are going to make the grade?
Maybe JPK needs to make way for George?
The McCartin situation is a weird one. He was moved down back as an experiment last year. Now he’s expected to take the best fwd every week and if he struggles the fallback is Rampe, Fox or Brand.
I think the new rules mean we have to invest more our key backs,
Time to bring in Gould, surely?
I’d also love to see Blakey running and carrying off the HBF.

It’s like one of those spot the ball competitions and he can’t see where the ball is.Comment

I thought we were a bit unlucky to lose. We were overpowering them in the last quarter and if we'd got 9 points up with another goal, they were history..bitter pill to swallow. We were just a bit passive for a little while.in the 3rd quarter. Our kicking for goal didn't help - we were 5.1 at one stage. 2 of Dixon's goals were very soft.
