That was fun.
It's pretty much all been said; some short notes:
- Gulden has made massive impact since coming back last week. So smart and skilful. Incredible poise and maturity for anyone, let along an 18 yo. 250+ game player and future captain;
- with Gulden's arrival, Mills' breakout as a dominant inside mid has been the year's biggest development - outstanding game today. BOG;
- Blakey was a revelation. King said it: his performance was a big coaching moment for Longmire, because it looks like he's finally found Blakey's spot. Great call by Ralph Dawg - I was sceptical and wrong;
- Amartey repeated his performance from a couple of games back. I'm surprised, but it looks like he's going to be a valuable player. Competes better than expected in the ruck;
- Fox found his form from late last year which demonstrated he's a best 22 player. He seems to take a while to work his way in when he comes back from injury, but was running on top of the ground today;
- encouraged by Heeney's second half. Once he kicked his second he found a bit of confidence and let's hope he kicks on.Comment

Rowbottom should’ve played today
Taylor Grey and Ronke are better forwards than him. Clarke is a better mid.
Stephens is no better on current form, but has a much higher ceiling.
Bell was much better today, had a couple of nice moments, but also had a few shockers. They just weren’t as noticeable in a 93 point win. His pressure was good today, but hasn’t been any better than average in previous games
I’ll be happy if he proves me wrong and really comes on as a player. I just don’t see it at the moment, does not get enough of the pill.
Clarke is not better than Bell at this stage for what he adds to the team …I just se him in the reserves and he gets a lot of ball but I don’t think it amounts to much at this stage
Again I think Bell has a role ro run and put real pressure in and he does that
I do rate Ronke and think he has a lot to offer but he’s coming back slowly from long term injuries
As for Rowbottom he was rested
For today Bell was the best option for that last spot inComment

The official crowd of 9520 at the Sydney v West Coast game today was more than the 9327 at the Richmond v Gold Coast game on Thursday night!Occupational hazards:
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.Comment

Round 16 • Sydney Swans v West Coast Eagles @Geelong
The Thursday night game was a GC home game so it was asking something extra from Richmond members and supporters (and it’s not like they don’t get a lot of Melbourne games), but you still would have thought more would attend.
The Swans crowd was good (for a cold, potentially rainy afternoon in Geelong), but I thought we might attract more. The thought of attending a ‘home’ game for Victorian-based fans is surely a draw card.
It is hard to tell how many people stay away in the Covid era, but I do wonder how many would have attended if it was played at Docklands or the MCG. An extra 10,000, maybe, but it is just a guess.Last edited by Matty10; 4 July 2021, 11:35 PM.Comment

That was an astonishing four quarter performance that many didn’t see coming .
I certainly thought Nicnat, Darling, Kennedy etc could easily dominate .
Swans attack on the footy from the first bounce to the last was an exceptional team effort .
Swans were paying $34 to win the flag prior, they are still paying $26 .
Fair enough, much bigger test next week I guess .Comment

Both crowds were a bit lighter than I expected.

West Coast were dismantled by the energy and execution of the Swans yesterday.
Pretty exciting to watch the evolution of our game plan in 2021. It really has suited our smaller nimble side.
Great to see Joel step up another gear and still only a handful of games in Snrs. Wonderful timing to discover new levels of confidence as we move towards finals and supporting Hickey and his dodgy knee.
Keep the momentum lads."be tough, only when it gets tough"

To be fair its not an easy place to get to for many in Melbourne - and for those reliant/preferring public transport, I think there was trackwork too. Add to that the fact it needed seperate ticket purchase as well, and the crowd is about at a point one would expect for such a game to be honest.
It might also have not made the number I might have anticipated for a Melbourne game either. Not one of the games over the last two weeks in Victoria reached its reduced capacity.Comment

moved to Marvel. Add to that the fact that they had to buy a separate ticket at prices as outrageous as $30 its a miracle
any of them showed up at all. Fortunately Gold Coasts Melbourne fans are hardier stock and turned up to Marvel on Thursday night.Comment
