Port have drafted and recruited really well the past few years. Looks like they've found another one with Georgiades. They, like the Bulldogs, should be contending for a while.

      +1

xavier duursma Is the other Port player I also really like who’s been out from memory since a very courageous game and act I think against Richmond

I'm putting a line through Port. Not a top 4 team. Making up the numbers.

Port have got a very strange age profile with a lot of old and a fair few young, but not that much in between.

Jonas, Motlop, Hartlett, Boak, Gray, Rockliff, Dixon are all the wrong side of 30.

Yes, I was overlooking that issue. Maybe they will drop off for a bit and come back. I dunno.

Their game plan seems to be to bomb it long to Dixon, hope he takes a mark, or they crumb the spill.

This is never going to work against a team like Melbourne with lever and May. They only way to get close to melbourne is to use your key forward as a decoy.

Having thought about it, I reckon they are in quite a strong position because of the relative youth of the rest of their side.

All these players are 25 or younger:

Powell-Pepper, Burton, Marshall, Houston, Fantasia, Amon, Butters, Georgiades, Rozee, Farrell, Byrne-Jones, Jones, Ladhams, Frederick

                Wines and Aliir are 26.

They seemed to be using AA last night in a rather "Longmire-esque" manner too

I found this strange.....and was wondering what Aliir might be thinking about that move too.....maybe "Oh, here we go again!"

Don't see them truly contending under Hinkley.

Bombers and Crows making a serious bid for worst game of the year. Under the roof of Marvel Stadium with no rain or wind, only 2 goals scored in the first quarter. Both sides completely devoid of intent and imagination.

It's a great advertisement for the code isn't it? Teams are now a combined 2.8.20. Sam Draper had a shot for goal from 25M out and didn't
make the distance. Things are going well.

Something very interesting just got said on the Seven telecast of tonights match. Apparently people are already complaining that the Friday night slot was filled with such a crap fixture. They said that it could have been Dogs v Swans.....but, and this is the interesting bit.....the Players Association stepped in and vetoed that because "they didn't want the Bulldogs having two 5 day breaks". I nearly fell off my chair......where were they when we had two 5 day breaks then played a team coming off a bye??? #Fairypups? WTF is going on?

While I’m sure there is a great amount of protection from the elements, all Marvel Stadium games are currently played with the roof open (due to capacity limits on fully enclosed events).

I got bored with the game pretty early, so I’m not sure it reached any great heights, but it was a good percentage boost to the Bombers. They have a pretty good run at making the finals, I reckon.
