I don’t think we are losing because of the umpires. Even if it’s comforting to believe it.

We'd still be losing even if the maggots stopped reaming us - carlton been far too good so far.

But the game is becoming unwatchable all the same from the truly baffling umpiring. Gone is a game largely umpired in a way that rewarded players doing the right thing, and so much of it now is about ridiculously technical free kicks, players looking for and getting rewarded with free kicks through ducking, dropping the ball, and an obsession of punishing even the most minute offences excessively (I'm all for the crackdown on genuine player dissent - but I think it has gone too far, unless the aim is truly just to turn every player into a robot.

Someone needs to hit the reset button on the rules and the way the game is officiated, or they will truly kill the golden goose.

Of course it was a mistake we let George go so we can play JPK at HB.

Every game we’ve lost (If we lose this) has been where our mids have been beaten (Dogs, Lions, Suns and this). Not sure where that hardness is going to come?

Way to early to judge that. George will do very well at Carlton.

But that decision was not made with 2022 in mind. That decision was made looking several seasons ahead. Come back to it in 4 or 5 years time.

Carlton can't play that well again for another few seasons. Reduce the margin to about 4 goals at 3/4 time and anything is possible.

Umpiring is rubbish. How Hickey didn't get a free for his tackle on Weitering is mystifying and I thought Warner took a bounce (may be mistaken) when he was pinged for running too far. If he did, no wonder he questioned the decision.

probably, but we can’t keep everyone and sometimes it can depend on who is coming out of contract at the time. PTiming is everything and hindsight is 20:20

Possibly not. List management is fluid. Changes have to made to participate in the draft and to manage cap space.

Agreed - many of those frees were there and a result of frustration and, basically getting smashed. We should have got a few more frees that were not paid, but this is gonna get embarrassing if we don’t step up.
