AFL clears Eddie
The AFL has decided Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has no case to answer over his criticism of a goal umpire during last Thursday night's game against the Brisbane Lions.
McGuire was calling the Gabba clash for Channel Nine when he referred to the official as "the umpire from hell".
The outburst came after the umpire incorrectly awarded a goal to the Lions - a decision which was immediately overturned.
The comment had caused Umpires Association officials to call for the AFL to rule on what they said was an apparent conflict of interest between McGuire's role as Collingwood president and his job as a Channel Nine caller.
Umpire coach Rowan Sawers says it is clear the inexperienced umpire got in wrong when he declared a point was a goal.
Mr Sawers says he was officiating in first ALF match.
"This umpire will be coached and assessed in the local competition and be reconsidered for selection on performance," he said.

Then again did we really expect anything less? I mean we are talking about Eddie here.
'On the Couch' Tuesday night, Sheehan said that he heard the Collingwood president commentating last Thursday night and not a unbiased football commentator. But then, WE ALL KNEW THAT!!!
