Hickey and Amartey are putting up small TOG numbers. Hickey is probably not fully fit yet and perhaps Amartey doesn't have the tank to go over 60% TOG, which he will certainly need to improve on if that's the case. It seems that we are struggling to get the ruck presence we want and need Hickey, Reid and Amartey in the team just to share that role and get a mediocre level of ruck coverage. We may need Ladhams back.
I would love JPK in too but I can't find anyone in that side that should go out for him.
The beauty of having a JPK in the side is that when we are really struggling on the inside and need a lift in the Centre we could break the emergency glass and put him in there, similar to what Collingwood do with Pendles.
He is clearly at the very end of his career but he still has some value left to make an impact when it counts I reckon.

When were we struggling on the inside if not today ? No one could get near Laird or that Berry kid , who is a fantastic defensive mid and we couldnt even go with him . Dont tell me for a second we dont need Joey in there

I think the thing that impressed me the most with Stephens game was his defence. He got back and flew in front of a few packs and really helped out well. I wasn't sure he had it in him but I'm happy to see that he has. He's building which is a relief as it would have been really unfortunate to waste such a high draft pick.

Very good observation. And the coaches would love it. We’re a long way from seeing his best too. Which will be when he starts using his pace offensively.
Others deserving of praise. Blakey’s defensive efforts were stellar, and the one two combo of his goal-saving effort and then Chads burst to set up Buddy in the third quarter turned things when it was getting a bit precarious.
Mills last quarter was stellar, and Heeney’s tackling and clean hands are just brilliant. I’d keep Clarke for another week, and Hayward is getting rewards for all the hard, selfless work he does.
And it’s no accident we’re playing so well with Paps back in form. People talk about our upcoming window because of all the outstanding young talent we have coming through and fair enough. But to have Paps, Heeney and Mills in the 25-26 age range provides three elite talents to anchor the whole thing around now.
No chance McInerney is dropped. His run and tank are crucial to us, especially in 4th quarters. Can't see Josh getting into the 22 at the moment unless there is an injury to one of our inside mids.
He definitely is. If he keeps up this rate of improvement we'll have one of the best midfielders in the league which is really exciting and was a staple of our dominance from 2012 to 2016 with Hanners, JPK, McVeigh, Jack and Parker all at their best during that time.
And we also had a young Tom Mitchell in there too who Chad could hopefully mimic for us winning a brownlow going forward!
Interesting reading all the comments here now that I'm home. How many people on here were at the game? Because to me the game
felt like it was over at 1/4 quarter time. Adelaide pressured us in the second and third quarters and won them on the scoreboard,
but we were never really threatened. Seeing Stephens start to look like he belongs out there was the highlight I thought.
