There needs to be a reset at GW$. A lot of high draft picks and highly (over)paid players disinterested and underperforming atm.

I don’t know how keen Alastair The Great will be to rebuild via the draft, but he may be the man to (1) focus and motivate the existing players (2) attract talent to the club and reduce the go home factor.

They’ve always seemed like a group of elite players rudderless and in need of a game plan (under Cameron). Clarko might just be the man to do that?

      shall see I guess.
I think Kelly is a very good player - no doubt about that - but they have massive Salary Cap problems so he would be an obvious one to offload.

Luckily Carlton and Collingwood (who every player evidently wants to go to) dont seem to have the same issues.

They look to me to have a lot of soft outside players who accumulate stats but do little with the footy. They still broke even on centre clearances 11/11 and we bridged the gap in the last quarter. Centre clearances is still our Achilles heel. With 6/6/6 we have to be better in this area.

          Coaches votes:

          Gulden 9
          Rowbottom 8
          Parker 7
          Sam Taylor 3
          Reid 2
          Blakey 1

Those were definitely my top3. Thought James and Errol unlucky not to get the Brett Kirk medal.

The way I see it, Longmire has claimed on multiple occasions that the Swans game plan is built on defensive pressure. The best exponent of defensive pressure in the side is Rowbottom. Therefore he will continue to be an automatic selection. When he isn't tackling, he is harassing, and negating the impact of opposition midfielders. Now a key component of this team.

It's going to be difficult for Chad or any Swan for that matter to win a Brownlow in the coming years because the votes are going to shared among so many quality players.

This is not a shot at you but GWS: Kelly is a good player but the idea he’s a $1m a year player for eight years is so far removed from reality it’s laughable and whoever signed that deal should be sacked. There are 25 Josh Kellys running around the AFL at any given time. At best, he’s a four year $700k player. At best.

Spot on. An outside midfield accumulator. Did the media go the early crow on him.

Good to see. Gulden was playing the ‘wherever Errol thinks he needs to go’ role he uniquely plays, Rowie was a beast, Parks superb and the other two terrific. And as much as the plastics were puss, Taylor was very good.

I don't think anyone has posted the Mongrel Punt review of the game, so I might as well do it.

Sydney v GWS - Mongrel Talking Points - The Mongrel Punt

The main points. GWS were very unwise to let Errol play "you just run wherever you want to run". Rowbottom showed to GWS, what being a hard edged midfielder is all about. GWS have too many players who look like they no longer care. Heeney should be All-Australian. Clarke claimed another couple of victims. And somebody in the comments section, put forward the interesting idea, that Reid might be the team's most improved?

Goal of the Week......of course it's Paps....but not the 'steal and sidestep' one, which I would have nominated.

Love it. Guess there was extra credit for the tackle inside 50, the flying footy boot and a few more points for throwing the boot back (after Heeney threw it away). Great sport!

& Wtf is Whitfield going on about?
