I know it is only a minor thing in the grand scheme of things, but I don't like the elimination final winner getting the longer recovery time for week 2 compared to the loser of the qualifying final. I think there is less consequence now with the bye before finals, but still.

At least (I think) it should mean Paps is available however.

Much prefer to be playing Melbourne at the 'G with a double chance than playing those cheating pretenders in an eliminator at the SCG next week. Phew!
        Same same. It was unwatchable.

Anyway, as others have noted, a tremendous effort for this young squad to finish 3rd, and more glory lies ahead if we get it right. Our contested footy and especially our centre square will want to be a damn sight better than that, otherwise the Dees will give us a hiding. I'm sure we can bounce back though.

I for one must admit that I have had my doubts at times about Dyl but I thought he was great today and has really developed the last 8 weeks. Really pleased for him.

I have always loved J Mac and I’ve got my doubts about him at the moment too. Hopefully, he can rediscover his mojo soon.

On the plus side, Rowbottom continues to erase any doubts. What a tough star he was today. The amount of time he had back to back to back efforts was incredible.

I would like to give a little praise to MacDonald. Maybe he wasn't so prolific up forward but, not for the first time, he seemed to run back hard to provide an exit option for our backs on a number of occasions

St Kilda players all day seemed to have their own little paddock and when they (naturally ) took an uncontested mark, a Swans player had to run like buggeree from no-where land to stand the mark .
              I don’t really understand it.

Loving the passion on the bench at the end of this Haywood goal replay.....especially Paps.

Heroic Hayward goal seals it for the Swans

                  Great stuff.

The midfield players should be sat down and and forced to watch Caleb Serong's centre clearance work over and over and over again. Just watches the footy and goes straight for it. Our boys are so flat footed. Does anyone have an idea of what our strategy is here.

Obviously I am a huge fan of Chad (like we all are) but I have to disagree with you here... Chad basically had no impact on the game barring an excellent pass in the first qtr and his brilliant goal in the 2nd. He was well beaten by his young opponent who tagged him (was 17th ranked player by CD) and he'll hopefully learn from this because we really need more from him the next few weeks if we are going to make an impact in September!

At the start of the year if you had told me we would finish 3rd I would have said you're on drugs. And after the Essendon game I definitely didn't think we would make top 4.

The game today overall was disappointing but I don't want to dwell on the negatives too much. My main concern is the centre clearances. We really can't let Melbourne constantly get their hands on the ball like that otherwise they will smash us.

I felt the loss of Papley hurt us, both up forward and in the centre. The concussion incident was interesting because after the contest I saw him on the ground with both his arms in the air. Straight away I said he is concussed but then a few seconds later he was up and running around. And then he kicked that long goal afterwards.

I know we normally don't play well after a bye, but I really think we need it. Obviously it will allow Papley to play, plus Blakey looked really sore and Heeney was being looked at on the bench in the last quarter.

He’s getting tagged every week now, which is a serious compliment from the opposition coach, but is limiting his impact.

We’ve been brilliant during our 7 game streak, but the players look like the break has come at the right time.

                              What a feeling.

Like everyone, there was that fleeting disappointment in the fact we missed out on second spot but Brisbane’s capitulation really made life hard.

All said and done we finish third and we’re a huge chance here. We know that we bring our best against the best and Melbourne are still the best.

Rowbottom - Some people were very, very wrong. His last month or so has been elite and last night he lead the way again. He’s the epitome of Sydney and our barometer as well.

Warner - Tagged hard every week but that’s a great thing for his development. He’s yet to play his 40th game and he’s already terrifying opposition teams.

Stephens - Hear me out, but he’s got Rolls Royce quality. The thing that can’t be trained but you see it in Mills and players like Hird and Burgoyne. I don’t necessarily think he’ll reach those heights but he oozes natural ability. He’ll go as far as he wants to.

Hayward - Remarkably, he may still be underrated. He never seems to get much attention and there’s no fanfare around him, yet he’s been going at a goal a game for the best part of two seasons. He’s the perfect complimentary player for Logan, Heeney and Papley because they’re all play very different roles but when it gels it’s magnificent.

Haywards last half of the season has been fantastic . Also did anyone notice that Rowbottom was the one who kicked the ball in and was then the first to celebrate with Will . His work rate has lifted immensely this year
