I think the AA squad is very reasonable. Chad is a superstar and will get future selections, but you compare his numbers (21 disposals) to say Brayshaw (28-29 disposals, 6 tackles) or that of Oliver, Miller or Neale and it is a substantial difference for a midfielder. I guess you might argue if he should be picked ahead of Cripps or Rozee, but you would have plenty who would disagree. They even had to stick Petracca as a forward.
I am very pleased though that Mills and Heeney were recognised!Comment

I very much doubt his age had anything to do with it. I'm sure the intellectual giants like Kane Cornes have some bizarre ways of going about it, but I very much doubt that would be one of them.Last edited by mcs; 25 August 2022, 10:17 AM."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Here's my take on the Chad AA thing, and why I'm not that bothered by it.
Chad was very good in the first half of the year, but it was really in the back third of the season when he truly exploded and joined the elite of the comp. That's when he started hauling in big votes in the coaches award, for example. That's not to criticise him. To become elite after 30 games, when he'd really only played half a season of AFL before this year (given his injury last year) is an extraordinary trajectory.
If he has a full season next year resembling what he did in the back third of this year, he won't just be winning an AA guernsey. He'll have a B&F and be pressing for some of the game's great individual awards.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

I thought possession numbers were one of your criteria for midfield success?Comment

Congrats to Mills and Heeney and I was pleased to see Rowbottom get votes in 4 out of the last 5 rounds.Comment

I think 2023 will be an interesting year for THE Chad as he’s going to have to play through a tag most weeks.
If he’s left unchecked he will test teams apart.Comment

Possession numbers dont mean anything for a player as good as talented as Chad .you dont judge him by how much he gets it , judge him by what he does with itComment

Geez give up - how about we celebrate the naming of Issac and Callum in the team, and the fact that Chad and Paps were nominated. Great achievements for all 4, and all players named to the final AA team were absolutely deserving.Comment

No need to give up TB, but maybe ease up a little. We're all well and truly onboard with how great Chad is and can be.Comment

It's great that you champion The Chad. We all love him. It is a shame, though, that you didn't think that Mills and Heeney should've made it and don't see their value. We are lucky to have such a well balanced side.Comment

Thats ridiculous , i have never said they dont have value . Heeney is a fantastic talent but goes missing too much and Mills is the best two way mid in the comp but his 2nd half of the yr wasnt as good as the first , he gave more opportunities to Chad . I am pleased for them as they are hard working LOCAL players ,it is unfair to say i dont see their value so take that back please .Comment
