Best atmosphere at SCG I have seen. Collingwood bought the best out in our supporters!

Been off and on this board, as a watcher only, for a few years now but following the Swans since they came to Sydney.
This is an excellent board and I have enjoyed reading almost everyones opinions for these last few years almost always positive about our team
Last night was great as always to be there - the most incredible atmosphere I have ever experienced at the SCG.
High fives with my son were regular early on and then at the end I lost all my fingernails
LETS GO BLOODS - ONE MORE WIN !!!!!!Comment

I was in the O’Reilly and the atmosphere was electric, yet with no abuse or expletives hurled at players or umpires. When the final siren blew people went nuts!
And later, when the Collingwood players came over our side to thank their bay of supporters, the sea of red and white applauded them in respect for the Collingwood game. Made me proud to be a Swans supporter.Comment

We were in the Noble and a Collingwood fan turned around and yelled at all the Swans fans behind him (including us) to "just @@@@ off".
I just burst out laughing. It was pretty funny considering he was the blow-in. I guess the moment got to him.Comment

As an aside, did anyone else notice the age demographic of the Bunnies-Sharks crowd next door at their awesome new stadium?
Seriously I reckon 80% of the crowd were aged under 30. Maybe even under 25. They were really young. I've never seen anything
like it at any code of any game ever. It was like a young concert crowd out at Qudos Bank Arena. Maybe it was a one-off, but
you've got to hand it to league sometimes. They are getting the kids in big time.Comment

I agree. It was the most engaged Swans crowd I have ever experienced.

Also agree the atmosphere was unreal. There was a collective ear-splitting roar I think after the Sidebottom goal which I've not heard at the scg. But there were also Swans chants all night; still recovering my voice.
I agree with a previous suggestion that this was precipitated to some extent by the vociferous Pies fans. It made me reflect that perhaps a reason Swans crowds may sometimes be down on apparent fervour is the lack of opposing support in the stadium. The Giants fans will never provide this.Comment

I guess these are the people the club is aiming to attract with loud music and fireworks and so forth. We are certainly not their target audience. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

Negative backlash on Twitter over the loud music after goals at the MCG on Friday night has been huge.....let's hope the league listens. People are not happy about this noisy and intrusive Americanisation of the AFL 'game experience'. Even an American AFL fan complained, saying the AFL game and it's crowd response is game experience enough and the manufactured hype of loud music is NOT needed and indeed not wanted.Comment

I confess I barely noticed it. Normally it irks me as much as the next person but I guess I must have been too tense. I did take notice of that splendid lime green performance of the National Anthem and the Diamond Anthem.Comment
