I won't quickly forget the sheer feeling of dread in that last quarter. We just didn't look like the energy was there from the first bounce of the last. As the scores got closer I just kept thinking about the fairytale season continuing for the pies.

Now the result is settled, it is so rewarding that we beat the pies in a close game. So sad for them

Glad to pass the swans prelim thriller at the SCG heart check!

We should have done it comfortably but Reid was a huge loss to our structure and they came hard.

But sometimes footy is a game where you need luck to swing your way..pies have won so many close ones in the season, but losses in both close finals.

Another minute and I reckon we get rolled.

But who cares! We will be there on the last Saturday in September! We will be big underdogs, but whatever happens - I love this football club and the joy it gives us all.

Win or lose next week - 2022 has been a magnificent year! And I know we will give it a red hot crack next week!

That Ginnivan one just before their 2nd (or was it last goal)..took possession, took 2 steps, got smashed, dropped it cold. Play on.

Our subsequent kick to noone and insufficient intent to keep in was stupid, but he was done cold there.

I'm for Amartey as well. Better in the ruck and can still clunk them. Usually reliable kick too.

I agree that Amartey offers more. Such a shame about Sam. I can't help but feel the bye and subsequent week off really stuffed him up. He really deserves to be playing next Saturday.

It was quite evident wasn't it. The umps were giving the Pies chaos footy every chance of getting them over the line.

Satisfying then that when you think about it, it's the perfect result for maximum pain for Pies fans and Vic-centric administrators pining for the old days. 1 point. Suck on that!

Yeah, I wondered about that. I saw McRae's presser and thought I must have missed Horse's but I wasn't out of the room that much.

Disgusting that they didn't see fit to show the winning coaches thoughts. It's somehow still all about the Pies.

So happy we snuffed out the fairytale.

Lucky to get through all because we chose to save the game rather than win it.

What a game ! Reid has had a season to remember and his loss hurt us. That said we won and now onto the big dance

Back from the game. Probably took a significant amount of time from my lifespan.

I have to say, I'm concerned by how much the Swans ran out of legs in the last quarter. All the energy, run, quick handballs were gone. It was only desperate defending, good fortune and the fact that the game didn't go a minute longer that saved them. But hey - they led all night and worked hard to get to that stage - and they're in a GF!

I think I'll be more relaxed next week. I don't think there'll be any shame in a loss to the Cats and if they win, what a win it will be.

So if Sam is out who comes in?

                        Probably Amartey

                        Possible McClean

                        Left field - Ladhams?

Absolutely not....I was worried we might not make the eight after that game. Great turnaround by the team and coaches from there.

Ladhams suspended. Lucky Hickey didn't get injured.

The Cats aren't a big stoppage team. I think we can go with Hickey and a makeshift backup, although I suspect that we will bring in Amartey if Reid can't play.

On the other hand, the Cats are a great intercept marking team, and I don't think we can beat them by just having more tall forwards trying to compete in the air. If we can't beat them a ground level, we can't win.

I don't think we will have our best side to beat the Cats next week. But I can't see dropping anyone either. We will just go in with what we've got and see what happens.

No, but not because of that game. We’re generally ahead of where I thought we’d be for two years now. I’ve thought we’d get there, but in the next couple of years. All power to Horse and the players for what they’ve done.
