    Match attendance and ticketing

As I have never been to Metricon Stadium, I am seeking advice from posters to what are some good seats to watch the Swans match against the Suns on March 18. Also is there parking available at or near the ground? Many thanks.

This is probably not going to be all that helpful, but living in the Gold Coast, I feel as though I should answer. Seating wise, the main gripe that I have, is only relevant for afternoon games. That is, cooking in the sun while staring into the setting sun. Since the upcoming match is a night game, then all seating is actually pretty good and falls into two main types: lower concourse and in the stands. So, it depends on personal choice. The lower seats are a little bit closer to game, while the stands give a more panoramic view. If you have a membership and going through the Swans site, then you generally just get offered tickets in sections reserved for the away team. If it looks like it could be rainy, then towards the back of the stands and away from the open northern end is better.

As far as parking goes, I ride my bicycle to the ground, so I'm pretty clueless.

My mate does the coffee at Metricon, and it's better than average for stadium coffee. Used to be better still but it's getting hard to get good staff.

Some years since I've been to Metricon but my recollection is:
        - it can be a damn sight colder at night than you might imagine - take a jacket!
        - there is no parking to be had for love nor money

There are free buses running regularly there from Broadbeach on game day. Easiest way to go to the game. No need to drive if you are staying somewhere on the Gold Coast.

            Match attendance and ticketing

Has anyone else tried/booked tickets today using the member pre-sale access period?

Ticketek is its usual nightmare. I eventually managed to buy two tx for our first home match v Hawthorn. I received confirmation email but without the tx PDF attached. I can’t find any reference anywhere to these tx being on delivery delay. And Ticketek make it impossible to send a query email as they demand an ‘event code’ - which I can’t find anywhere ....

I am wondering if anyone else has had more success, or alternatively knows that the PDF will be sent later?

Ps: usual untruths re ‘secure the BEST seats for friends and family at SCG home games’ etc. The seats that were coming up as available in the area I was looking at were all in two complete rows near the back (and identically so in a second match I looked at). There are obviously (better) vacant seats elsewhere that are not showing up for sale yet.

              Hello RWOers!

My wife and I plan to make our second trip to Australia (the first was in 2018), which will include three Swans matches. One of these is at the MCG. We saw a game at the MCG in 2018 but it did not involve the Swans and we just got GA tickets. My question is, as a Swans fan, where would be the best place to sit ? I generally like the wings for viewing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Swans faithful are normally at the city end of the ground (ie Ponsford Stand end) for MCG games

It's close to impossible to sit on the true wings at the MCG as a member of the general public because the AFL Members and MCG Members areas occupy pretty much all of that prime real estate.

That means that buying a public entry ticket will most likely land you up in a pocket, from where you probably won't be able to actually see much of what goes on onfield, especially from ground level. A bit of elevation helps, but too much (ie near the back of the concrete monstrosity stands) and it will feel like you're watching from a blimp.

If you can gets seats almost directly behind one of the goals, the viewing improves a bit, though the far end of the ground still seems like a distant morass of bodies compared to watching at most other grounds.

I think the best seats I ever bought were in the front handful of rows on the top deck of the Ponsford, nearly in line with the goals. Probably the perfect elevation.

(Those weren't actually for a Swans game, but for one of the very rare occasions I've been to a match as a neutral - it was Geelong vs Hawthorn and an eye-opening experience - literally. When you spend two hours listening to two sets of fans relentlessly bagging every umpiring decision, it makes you aware of your own tendency to sometimes have one eye closed shut. Hasn't stopped me falling into that habit, but I'm more aware of - and sheepish about - doing so since that experience.)

I had a similar experience Liz at the 'G for a Collingwood-Hawks game - oh my! There were two young Pies fans in front of me who seemed nice average fellas, until the game started - then they turned into two of the ugliest souls I've ever borne witness to.

[Still having my technical issue quoting other posts? I wonder what that is...]

I remember last year when purchasing Ticketek mobile tickets in the AFL members for the MCG, they weren't available to view until closer to the game date. Next week I will be purchasing tickets so I'll be able to see if it's the same process this year. (Note I will be purchasing mobile tickets again so I wouldn't receive a PDF anyway, but I'll still be able to see if I can view my ticket).

Meg have you been able to get the PDF yet? I purchased mobile tickets today and they were available straight away.

I noticed under the Order History of the Ticketek account there was an option to download the PDF.

Thanks Mel, no I haven’t been sent the PDFs nor can I find a way to access them.

Three tx I have bought are all showing in my account (seat details etc.) but not showing as PDFs to download. And when I click on the ‘add to Apple Wallet’ button on my phone I get the message ‘this pass isn’t available right now’. [emoji2368]

Any more suggestions would be very welcome!

I purchased 2 tickets for the Gold Coast game at Metricon through Ticketek and pass isn't available to download at present but will be available closer to the date of the match.
