Totally agree Stevo. This forum is, and should be enjoyable aswe have diverse opinions about players, coaches etc. I think it is fair to say that Horse has lacked a Plan B and has been slow at times to make moves. He has also been too defensive at times but has improved his game plan since Don Pyke’s arrival.
We were robbed in 2016 as we all know- however last year was a total embarrassment for us. Admittedly we didn’t expect to make the GF at the beginning or midway through the year, and with such a young team against a very experienced and physically perhaps stronger team the odds weren’t in our favour. We can argue that he made some wrong match-ups and the 1st quarter got away from us. But I think it was a bit deeper than that- we just fell across the line against the Pies, which showed to me that our young players were tiring and their bodies feeling the pinch. All very understandable and so in hindsight the GF debacle was understandable, though of course not expected.
The big question now is: how are we going to respond? Some think we will be scarred but I don’t think so.
If our showing in the GF was due to tired young bodies after a gruelling season, which I think was the case, then this year we can go one better. We need luck with injuries as we don’t have depth in some areas like the ruck, but our youngsters have matured a bit and beefed up. Exciting times ahead!
