We are only favourites because the Melbourne footy media gave nfi about the Swans and only cover us very ssuperficiallyI'm somewhat surprised we're clear favourites considering our outs compared to Richmond. Focus has been on them losing Lynch & Nank over us losing half our backline (all key defenders) & Buddy. Even our replacements are under injury clouds! Geelong really struggled when they lost half their backline at beginning of the season.
Hope Gould gets up to be sub. It provides break glass in case of emergency option with our undersized backline and good way introduce him to senior footy. Otherwise Sheldrick if Gould isn't fit.
McLean's selection allows Armatey to play full time forward double act with McDonald minus Buddy. First time since R2 when they combined for 9 goals and get to see if this combo really has an exciting future. Hopefully this makes us less predictable with our forward entries and also brings Heeney/Hayward more into the game.
Pivotal game, considering we have a resurgent Geelong the following week at Kardinia Park.Comment

I’m in Adelaide and pumped to be going to the game. Hopefully the rain holds off for a bit. Can someone else start the match thread when the subs are announced?Comment

I’ll be interested to see how we play the second ruck tonight, between Amartey and McLean.
Amartey is the better ruck, and his agility and athleticism is probably well suited to a run and gun game given both sides are playing small. Hayden playing forward also gives us a big body to make a contest when we need it.
But there’s a bit of me tempted to start McLean as second ruck despite his limitations, mainly to give Joel an extended run as a forward in Bud’s absence and see if he and Logan can replicate their success against the Hawks - recognising the big difference in quality of opponent.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Was just about to post the same comment. According to the Vic media, Richmond are the only side with injuries and it is going to be a huge test for them.Comment

Campbell has taken longer to really start to influence games, but I still think he will be just as influential over time as Gulden.
He is increasingly showing great composure in a similar manner to how Mills did in the backline, despite being an undersized defender.
