I liked the action of the Hawthorn player who realised there was nothing to lose by knocking King over again as he walked to the goal square.

Callum Sinclair was fined back in 2018 for a flop after being brushed by Cripps. The AFL were supposedly being tough on staging that year. The commentary in the attached suggested a free should have been given against Sinclair.

This discussion has been going on for a long time .....

        The Roar:

“Suns cop some of 2023's most one-sided dodgy umpiring, win anyway

Every neutral supporter was barracking for the Suns after some of these calls!”

BTL comment: “I really wish to one day find someone who loves me as much as the umps love the dogs”

          I like the idea.

I only caught the last 15 minutes of this game, but that was enough to get me fuming about the umps seeming to do their best to get the puppies back into a game when they simply should’ve been gone.

The 2x 50s were a joke and the rewarding of Weightman’s staging (thrice in 5 minutes) is embarrassing for the AFL. A number of iffy ones went their way (when the Suns couldn’t buy a free) - just happens all to often.

Does anyone really expect the AFL to get rid of this scourge - the flopping that is, not Weightman LOL

As one sided umpiring as I've seen since the 2016 GF, both favouring the Dogs of course

Richmond heading for a high draft pick, they are looking like a light of days past in recent games. Have an ageing list as well, Riewoldt and Tarrant 34, Cotchin 33, Martin and Grimes 32, Pickett 31, a number of other key players around 30. Not a huge amount of top end young talent. Missing Lynch of course.

Crows still to play, I wish them ill

Zorko just tried to go the eye gouge. The Crows player didn’t seem to recoil or react so maybe he didn’t connect but it was still a grub of an effort.

Carlton. They've tried a proven coach (Malthouse), a new coach (Teague), a club legend (Ratten) and now experienced coach ( Voss).
There problems aren't the coach. It's the list. 5-8 players are list cloggers. Cripps is way overrated.

I know we're all treating the Dogs umpiring situation as a bit of a giggle and we're all used to them getting a good run, but watching that real time this was next level stuff - it was very hard to watch it without thinking someone was trying to engineer a particular outcome. Those three frees/penalties that led to Dogs' scores at a critical time in the game - Bont's HTB, the 50 m penalty and the downfield free kick - none of those get paid in another game in a similar situation.

For the integrity of the game, I hope questions are asked.

I think it's mostly the Bulldogs players who train to milk free kicks. Flopping, ducking, etc.

That 50m was an absolute joke though.

The first two - the HTB and the 50m - required no complicity from the Dogs players.

Agree about 50m. The Suns player just stood on the spot where the mark was taken. Also, the umps often ask the players to come back a couple of steps. Shocker.

Umpires drive momentum swings. I'm convinced of it.

It's typical of this league.....it's responds to 'trends' but never seems to stick with that response. Things cool off and everything goes back to normal....if you could call mismanagement normal but it's normal for this league.

Or when a 'legend' coach has a sook about a Swans player.

I have 5 out of 8 so far and did tip the Swans and the Suns.....and picked Brissy over the Crows who are leading by 3pts at the moment.
