True. Not in the team for natural talent or offensive footy smarts.

      This is the suspension thread.

Carlton to challenge the Cerra sling tackle on Hickey ban. Was Parker's similar?

Carlton lawyer amazingly got Cripps off last year for an act that would get four weeks this year, can he be the first lawyer to get a sling tackle hitting head on ground off this season?

          Swans also challenging Parker's suspension
Cited in the same game and now challenging on the same night. The Swans will contest Luke Parker’s one match rough conduct ban at the AFL tribunal. Carlton already committed to challenging Adam Cerra’s suspension.

No way Cerra gets off....then again, Carlton are a Victorian team. If he gets off, Swans will rue not challenging Parker's ban, if they indeed don't. I reckon they should now that Carlton stupidly have.

Post edit: Oh I now see from the above post we are challenging.....GOOD.

I'm not convinced either gets off, but I think Luke has the slightly better case - and suspect we will zero in on the medium impact element. But Cerra's is the classic sling they've pinged every time at the tribunal this year.

Not confident that Luke gets off. The tribunal has been very consistent with the suspensions regarding tackles involving contact to the head of players.

Good. Definitely worth making a case.

I am pretty sure that there is no financial penalty for going to the Tribunal anymore, so I guess it is a free hit for the Club. Unless the Tribunal **** up and potentially give him 2?

Maybe not directly but the lawyers’ fees would be a cost. Wouldn’t go challenging for the sake of it unless they really thought they could win

Do the legal fees come out of the soft cap? If not, the rich clubs have a huge advantage in being able to absorb those fees.

Of all the sling tackles up this week, Hickey had his arm free.

I was dubious about there being no SFL mandated cost to appealing a suspension as there certainly was in past seasons. On OTC this evening, John Ralph said there is a $5,000 payment (which is refunded if you’re successful). I thought it was $10,000 but maybe it’s reduced this year.

The suspension has been upheld and Parker will miss the game Vs St Kilda despite strong arguments from us.

No surprises here. Unfortunately he was never going to be cleared.
