Who's surprised? Parker's appeal failed....he will miss the Saints game. If Cerra gets off now, I'll go down to Melbourne and set AFL headquarters on fire.

Carlton are arguing that Hickey's arms weren't pinned. That may be true, however, he was falling backwards in the tackle, so how could he brace his fall?

Cerra has been cleared. Just as I thought the tribunal was doing a great job of stamping these tackles out, they go and introduce some fog.

Sure, Hickey's arms weren't pinned but the nature of the tackle meant he couldn't use them to protect his landing. And there was undoubtedly a slinging motion. Having the arms pinned is only one of the criteria previously applied in determining whether a tackle is dangerous or not.

Am I a one eyed swans fan or is that a bit crook considering Cerra got off? His looked objectively worse and more “slingy” to me

The whole system is a joke. It was a sling tackle. The only way to stop these types of tackles is to penalise the offender. The same consequence should be applied to everyone.

I honestly can’t see what was wrong with Parker’s tackle? He pins the arm to stop the hand ball and drops his own weight to bring Walsh to ground.

                  There is no sling motion.

Are players just not supposed to be brought to ground now? If that’s what the afl is trying to achieve it needs to be clear.

I don’t remember Parker getting suspended previously despite being in the thick of the action for over a decade. I think he’d be pretty upset about this, and rightfully so.

The AFL and it’s tribunal system is an absolute farce. Set up for the Vic clubs, by the Vic clubs, of the Vic clubs. (Apologies to A. Lincoln).

So Cerra and Laird both get off at Tribunal and Parker doesn't... surely me must appeal the decision now! Parker is one of the fairest players in the AFL! Absolute disgrace of a decision!

I’m ok with Parker getting a guilty verdict, and ok with Laird getting off based on the precedent this year. But Cerra getting off too - bull crap. They’ve so far placed the onus of care on the player tackling to ensure the tackled players head doesn’t whack into the ground, and that’s what happened with Hickey.

Happy to join the arsonist party at AFL House.

Cerra's tackle certainly looked worse to me too.
But Cerra is a blue jumper, Parker is wearing red and white and there lies the difference.

The ironic thing is that if Hickey had of being concussed, it would be a 3-4 week penalty.
And if someone like paddy mccartin was in the place of Hickey, that tackle would have concussed him
