Does anyone think we are a sneaky chance for an upset? Turn the clock back to round 1 2021?

Given our injuries, this is about a good a team we could field against Brisbane. I hope we can be competitive. We should move the ball better with the absence of Franklin and Clarke, but it's hard to say how functional our forward line will be with this group working together for the first time.

With Darcy Fort included for Brisbane, I would like to see McLean shifted to defence to help cover Brisbane's three 2-metre forwards. Like in most games, we should do better with the ball on the ground than in the air.

Good to see Buller get a game so early, and good on Horse and the selectors for making the call. It'll give him a good taste of qhat's required against an excellent set of tall defenders.

As for Clarke, it's time. I don't say this with any malice as he's clearly committed to his footy and the club, and a selfless player. But he worked last year when he could apply his discipline to a contained role, within a team that was otherwise in synch - and he did it well and diligently. But in a side that has lacked rhythm and cohesion, that's hard - and the other limitations of his game have been exposed.

I'm big on role players, but I just don't see him being part of our long term plans for success, and other players need to be prioritised.

Unfortunately no, but will be hoping for a win.

is Clarke out of contract this year?

There’s no doubt in my mind that Gould will be first one out the door. Ideal for him to lock down a spot with all the injuries - not withstanding the dysfunction in the defence he may not have endured if it was only one or two players down - but he’s not even an emergency.

Would be very difficult to focus and close out the year on a positive for him I’d think. Watched an AFL career slip through his fingers.

many times when everyone backs a certain team with 100% confidence i go against the odds and back the underdog. i think we are capable of pulling somethin from nothing and snap em ????

Teams we play twice this year: Fremantle, Geelong, Gold Coast, Greater Western Sydney, Melbourne, Richmond.
These teams that could cause us problems: Fremantle, Geelong, Gold Coast, Greater Western Sydney, Melbourne, Richmond.

Easiest to hardest: Gold Coast (11th), Richmond (12th), Greater Western Sydney (14th), Fremantle (10th), Geelong (9th), Melbourne (3rd). We still have the second of each of these games to come. I rate the first three as 50-50 games, and the rest as dicey at best.

Only one of these sides is currently in the top eight, which proves that "This year's ladder is a fair bit different" ... "this may not have eventuated". Still, our form hasn't been great, so despite most of these teams being around our place on the ladder we're not going to win many of those games.

Plus we'll get a full season out of Reid, who we have missed a lot this year, if he keeps up with his career trend of one season on, one season off.

Notice the positive vibe of this post?
Hahahaha I think I am wetting myself with laughter. Reid playing haha. I think he will be put out to pasture.

Not making finals only helps with our draft picks

Not saying it's the reason but just saying it hasn't helped. Also, technically, Geelong should have had the hardest draw.

A BIG shout out to Harry Cunningham who kept the leagues most dangerous small forward to just seven possessions and zero influence. Well done Harry - the quiet achiever

Ok agree about Harry. He was great. But there were moments we were not. I think it is strange that those moments happened to coincide with both Sheldrick and Rowbottom being on the bench.
