We did some horrible short dinky kicks in the last quarter. Blakey and Gulden trying to be cute with short passes that weren't there, instead of roosting the ball deep where McLean and Amartey were and we over possessed. We played some straight out dumb footy. We were getting the ball into the forward line quickly that put those 2 players one out but forgot to do what we did in the first half. I thought we played a lot like 2022 and played some of our best footy of the year. On that game our form looks to have turned in the right direction apart from our woeful kicking for goal.
Campbell was one player who was positive with the footy all game. Sheldrick is showing that we did make the right decision by drafting him and not Van Rooyen.
Can anyone explain to me why Melican got penalised by punching the ball away in a contest that went out on the full. The penalty was for not trying to keep the ball in play. But that is not the rule. How many times during a round does that happen? Puzzling.

I think John Ralph said that. What a block head. From previous weeks both Blakey and Francis should have got free kicks.Comment

The Melican free was because it wasn’t a marking contest. You can’t just spike the ball out in general play.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

Strange game. I went into it thinking that anything other than a smashing by the Cats would be OK. Halfway through I was lamenting that the Swans weren't up by 4-5 goals. And near the end, I started thinking that a draw would be the most fitting result.
Melican was very good, and I don't think I have much else, tonight anyway.Comment

My opinion is objective truth in its purest formComment

Encouraging points from tonight and season to date:
* Campbell really hitting his straps as a senior footballer
* Sheldrick looking like a good prospect
* Aaron Francis looking increasingly good in our backline, he’s a great contested mark and makes the contest well
With some active drafting and list management I can’t see why we won’t be challenging again next year or 2025Comment

Yet the majority of your posts are negative, condescending and aggressive….
Sure there were positives. How about understanding that most of us are gutted by that and there were plenty of bloody negatives. Missing open goals from 10m out isn’t easy for a lot of us to accept and a huge bloody negative.

Ruckman is the issue.Comment

Hot take: our kicking for goal was a little frustrating.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Eeugh or equivalent emoji. So many positives, all spoilt but our **** kicking. We've been missing right to the Paddington end all year - surely among the army of statisticians that the club employs I can't be the only person to have noticed that? Why can't we do something about it?
I struggle to remember a player as talented as Heeney playing a game as bad as that - something is awry.

As a grand final replay, it was one for the ages - for all the wrong reasons.Comment

"The Chad" would have been very handy in the first half the way we were playing. He may very well have nailed a few on the run the way we opened up the midfield.Comment
