I posted a couple of times during the game that our contested and clearance worked was off - and just looked at the numbers. Yikes. Parker, Mills and Rowie were all down last night.

Thankfully Errol was doing Errol things and I thought Chad really hit his strides and was influential as the game wore on. McInerney and Wicks both had quality games, and whilst Wright nabbed a couple late, McCartin was excellent once again. Good to see Amartey step up too. He and Errol are quite the combo.

I like McLean, but the risk of him playing first ruck is good opponents will wear him down and we saw that come into play. He broke even in the first half but their rucks dominated the second half.

Hopefully the way Ramps was bouncing around on the bench at the end suggests it was no more than a precautionary move to keep him off.

And maybe the whole Buddy scenario deserves its own thread.
'Delicious' is a fun word to say

Brilliant to get the win and that’s the main thing that counts.
Most other teams can play and get their turn at gaining momentum. Bulldog and Cats fell away. Hard to win a game of afl footy, especially with wounded players. 4 pts in the bank.

You raise a fair point BF. It certainly could have been worse. Looking at it after sleeping on it, while still frustrating that we let them back in it, at least we didn't blow it like the 2 you mentioned (how sweet was the Bulldogs losing that one! Lol).

Who's looking forward to the VFL game today? I'm not sure if we'll win as we've been pretty awful this year, but we have a decent side on paper at least.

Do you think, as I mentioned last night we might pull 1 or 2 out as a precaution due to last night's injuries? Possibly Francis or Buller or perhaps even one of out rucks?

Would be insane to pull anyone out of reserves given they didn’t play last week. Francis was also pulled the previous week (after Melican) and then didn’t play seniors. Longmire mentioned the bye last week was detrimental re. Ladhams returning to seniors so he definitely plays. They need to play some footy.

Agree. No fan of the Giants and it would have been better for us if they lost, but really enjoyed them running over the bulldogs.

Very happy with the win and the outcome over 4 quarters - admittedly the first 3 were more enjoyable.

I have commented before that key position players and ones with more playing seasons tend to play for much longer Time on Ground. So the loss of our key defenders for so many weeks must have had knock on effects for more junior players in having to step up and play more minutes. I'm sure that has had its effect on their apparent fade out in 4th quarters.

Last night the loss of Lance would have had that consequence once again; ditto for Rampe.

So well done to the remainder for hanging on

It was one of those frustrating final quarters where the ball just seemed to bounce in favour of the Bombers just about every time. They were playing great footy and we were running on fumes. We did well to hang on.

Watched both coaches' post match press conferences. JL his normal controlled self but Brad Scott's one was an absolute love fest by the media who were present. Kept emphasizing how well the bombers played and how many injured players were out. Not a word on how the Swans played. This is not a knock on Scott who can only answer their questions and he did praise us by saying that we absorbed their pressure well and that this has been a trademark of ours for a number of years. The journos carried on like they were members of a Bomber Fan Club.

                              We controlled this game

We created a scenario by 3yrs time that was very difficult to counter

But Essendon are on the rise

And do are a few teams that were a long way behind in 2022

2024 is a scuba dive in amongst tuna heads and bull sharks as there is a change of the guard

Marvel Stadium is carpet laid on concrete with a carpark underneath. I suspect Optus oval is the same.
