Out of the 18 remaining home and away games, this game is one of two games that have more influence over the finals than any other. The other game is Geelong vs St Kilda. Both games are like elimination finals. Win this, and we are a good chance to make the finals regardless of the result of the final game against Melbourne.

We have not played Adelaide twice in a season since 2005. Out of all pairings of teams, this is the equal longest current double-up drought.

Current longest double up droughts per side
(Year listed is the last time the sides doubled up in a season)

    Adelaide: Sydney 2005
    Brisbane: Sydney 2011
    Carlton: North Melbourne 2007
Collingwood: Greater Western Sydney never, St Kilda 2011
    Essendon: Melbourne, 2005
Fremantle: Gold Coast 2016, Adelaide 2016
    Geelong: Carlton 2014
Gold Coast: Richmond never, Essendon 2016, Fremantle 2016
Greater Western Sydney: Collingwood never, North Melbourne 2012
Hawthorn: Carlton 2015, Port Adelaide 2015
    Melbourne: Essendon 2005
    North Melbourne: Carlton 2007
Port Adelaide: Hawthorn 2015, Sydney 2015
Richmond: Gold Coast never, North Melbourne 2015
    St Kilda: Collingwood 2011
    Sydney: Adelaide 2005
    West Coast: Brisbane Lions 2016
    Western Bulldogs: Adelaide 2013

I was listening to a podcast where they previewed the game for a few minutes. The Champion Data guy they had on highlighted that the Swans and Adelaide are #1 and #2 in Points Scored in the past 6 weeks, and are also #2 and #1 respectively in points scored in general open play. So expect a high scoring shootout on Saturday night.

I am not sure of the ins. How long has Rampe been out? Any player who has been out for more than 4 should play reserves. At his age there is a good chance he could do another calf. Calf is old man injury. I would not be so quick to throw a fit backman out for his return. Macca is at least 1 week away, if not more as he has not had any competitive work as yet. If Joel can prove his hammy is Bomb Proof he plays, but only then. I would err on the side of caution and rest him and get him to do a set of anaerobic exercises. This conditions the body to use less oxygen and conditions the muscles to perform under great stress.

I must admit I have no bloody idea what the team will look like this week. All I know is we MUST win

Rampe's been out for 2. He returned straight to the seniors when he missed 8 games earlier this year.

Mark Ricciuto is on the commentary panel on TV.

Look for me i dont really think about the opposition team, opposition fans or biased old boys on commentary panels.

But Mark Ricciuto is your flaming aussie italian and a very very proud Adelaide Crow through and through........so i must admit i am looking forward to him trapped in a twisted spiral of unexpressed anger..............as we grab hold of this game in the 3rd and build a 4 goal lead heading into the 4th.

His absence of commentary could be quite delightfully funny in the last qtr as the gap can not be narrowed and the Swans sail away.

I think we can make this fly in and fly out with the win in Adelaide (excuse the pun)................and this will be the bonfire that chases the competition and media.

Beware the ruthless Swans because you will not want to play our team in the first game of the finals.

The last two times I was in Adelaide, I visited the best part of the city: the airport (and nowhere else). The airport is the best part of Adelaide because it's the fastest way to leave the city.

Really keen to see how Buller goes at this level again now he’s had some time at the club. Hope he has a blinder!

Really interesting selection and Amarty is a real liability with his Hamstrings- really hope Buller becomes a key forward would solve a lot of issues if he could become one

They kept Stephens over Roberts which surprises me a little! Hope he plays a blinder

Thought that Francis was no good for most of the season but he’s been really sound the last two weeks. Surprised they dropped him

Roberts may be the sub. Clarke might need a run in the VFL.

I thought Roberts struggled last week

Not really a good match to a fast flowing game this weekend and or fast exits from clearances
