A few will get a rest regardless, but a win could mean a home final, so no rest for the rest.

There wasn’t much running around on Lakeside this afternoon that you’d be confident promoting.

Joel and JMac were there watching. Maybe they’ll be right. Melican had some very good individual moments but our defence as a whole was consistently outplayed (though the ball was coming in without much upfield pressure).

If we need to find someone to replace Papley, a left field idea might be Lachie Rankin, who was sent forward in the final quarter, kicked two skilful goals and narrowly missed a third on the final siren.

So we can theoretically finish from 5th to 8th. A home final would be handy, but that probably also means rolling the dice on a couple of borderline players. And with McCartin likely to miss, it gets tougher. Fortunately, the Dees have crap tall forwards.

My view: just play who is fit and take our chances.

Melbourne have now got the game wrapped up, which is a good result for us. Their top four spot is no longer threatened by Carlton and a win against us, might see them travelling to Brisbane, instead of playing a mildly slumping Collingwood at the MCG. So, maybe they rest a player or two, next week?

Home final not essential. Right up our alley to go to MCG as underdogs e.g. qualifying final last year.

Although, that scenario changes if Port lose to Fremantle and Brisbane lose to St Kilda. In that case, Melbourne would be playing to host Brisbane.

Agreed. I favour not risking half injured or returning players.

Still in a bit of a daze about qualifying for finals. Things did look grim not that long ago. Gives you a buzz.

Absolutely! As much as I feel that some costly decisions went against us last night, the drama about that last shot had an unsettling effect on me overnight and this morning. But now, thanks to the Eagles, I couldn't give a damn about what people think about last night. We're in finals AGAIN and I am stoked!!

Seem a touch upset at Beveridge. And his press conference hasn't calmed them down.

Although, there are a few witticisms that I find genuinely amusing. Like, "Thankfully we didn't have to play West Coast twice this year".

What Bevo said in code was: "we have a very average list and yes we are soft." Which they are. Take out The Bont and a couple of others and they finish bottom 4 or slightly above the Dive Bombers.

All year the VIc media have béen talking up the cats and the tigers as the dark horses and the swans as failures.
                                Well, who failed now, caro?
