Team List Rnd 24 vs Melbourne at the SCG, Sunday 27 August at 3:20 PM

Last game of the regular season with the Bud getting a halftime farewell!

We can finish as high as fifth if:

    a) we beat Melbourne
    b) Brisbane beat St Kilda
    c) GWS beat Carlton
    d) We gain 4.5 percentage on Carlton due to big wins at a) and c)

In this scenario, we’d get a home final against St Kilda or GWS depending on the size of thee GWS win.

However, 4.5 percentage is a lot to gain considering the teams involved so I think a win vs Melbourne will probably see us finish 6th (assuming Brisbane beat St Kilda) vs St Kilda or GWS

If we lose, we will be 7th if Carlton beat GWS, 8th if GWS win.

Outs: McCartin (suspended if no appeal, or appeal unsuccessful) and Papley (managed)

    Ins: Melican and McInerney?

Whilst a home final would be good, id prefer to get everyone ready for the final regardless of where its played. If that means rest etc then so be it

Good chance of playing at Marvel which would be fine

First Swans-Melbourne game at the SCG since 2019.

As ever I think the Swans best can win it, and they have a few positive psychological factors: at home for the last H&A game, on a winning streak and perhaps a good send-off for the retirees.

That said, if they play a last quarter like the Crows game they'll make it very difficult for themselves!

We can still get a home final if the Saints win if:

                a) we beat Melbourne
                b) GWS beat Blues
                c) we gain 4.5 percentage on the Blues through a) and b)

Not easy, but GWS won by 21 goals on the weekend.

At least we know whether we can guarantee at least 6th place by the time we take the field as we will know whether or not Brisbane took care of St Kilda.

Some encouraging news re Joel and one Tom, and some hope re another Tom. Less good news on the Justin front. Non-definitive news re Hayden.

(And some utter class from Longmire re the goal-that-was-not-a-goal.)

When you look at it a few times it is almost as if McAdam ran into Tom. Tom certainly turned his body towards the ball. Hope we argue it was a normal in play incident.

The Dane Rampe defence. Also might have been used to contest the Campbell suspension. But given the industry outrage after the tribunal agreed with Rampe, and maybe with an inkling that they might need to use it again in the near future, they elected to give Braedon a week to rest and rejuvenate and fine-tune his 60m bombs.

Little did they realise that they would need to roll out this defence again so soon, and in a week when the club is Public Enemy No 1 after we single-handedly ruined the Crows’ rampant premiership thrust.

                        McCartins suspension

I noticed McAdam in march of this year ironed out Jacob Weir GWS ( head high hit) and was suspended for 3 games , so maybe he had intention to hit Tom

Most of you probably know already. Club is definitely appealing the two game ban (unlike with Campbell’s ban).

Once you saw some of the different angles, you could see the argument we made for Rampe had absolute merit. I'd need to see a better angle of the McCartin one to be convinced - not because I think he went hunting him or there was a single intentional thing about it, but because it'll take ALOT to have the tribunal let off someone when the other bloke has a busted cheek.

Nothing in it, he didnt even continue thru him. Turned the direction of the ball otherwise would have been chest on chest.
                              Weak as p8ss.

Shouldnt have even been a free based on Blakey getting drilled by Fogarty
