Micky O is still my fave Swan to have watched. Just did freak things and made footy joyous.
'Delicious' is a fun word to say

Cheer up longmile - even if Blakey didn't make the AA team, there's some eerily familiar footage online for you to enjoy https://twitter.com/crazyclipsonly/s...80449178460480

          Nick Blakey (Sydney)

          “Nick Blakey was very close.

          “Very, very, very close.”

Nick got better and better as the season went on. I feel like there was dawning recognition that he is elite (as opposed to having a zany nickname and a perceived ad lib runing style) right at the very end. Just a little too late.

Settling maturity has come with the performance development. Super courageous. Will be a great player. Blood for life, clearly.

Competitive draft year, 2018, and we had a blinder: 2018 AFL draft - Wikipedia.

Completely agree. I remember a game at the MCG against Collingwood when he was just a lad, somehow emerging from a pack to stand tall and dish off a perfect hand pass, resulting in a Swans goal. The ‘Pies fan behind us sighed deeply, and muttered to his mate “Michael O’Loughlin is a an absolute genius with the football. I wish he played for us”. It was a supremely gratifying moment on so many levels.

I like his ad lib running style - and it's uncanny resemblance to the frilly in the link.

Also, genius of a team player who set up many of his team mates. Played with great flair but could get the yips in front of goal at times.

One little bug in the code, age at end of year is off by 10 days as I typed Dec 21 not 31 but it doesn't alter anything except that number.

I love how any mention of Micky O triggers great memories. I remember when he retired there was a highlights video and in one sequence where he marks, turns and disposes, the ball seems to vanish for a moment then appear out of nowhere. I've watched it multiple times and cannot figure it out, it really is like a magic trick.

Not only did Champion Data name Blakey in their version of the AA team, they had him in the top 10 players of the year. He also made the top 10 last year which was surprising to me

A mate of mine who’s a Hawks fans and like most of them, obsessed by Cyril Rioli, even acknowledges Micky O was Cyril before Cyril.

I still think one of Micks best games was
against the Cats at Skilled when McVeigh was out and he played a traditional half forward crashing packs disrupting everything.

The cats had already printed their 50 in a row shirts as we had no right to win that game.
He ate more cheese, than time allowed

Yes we witnessed those yips in the '05 GF!
