I’ll be happy if for the early part of next season he spends time on the bench while he builds up match fitness.

        People sometimes make mistakes.....tick.
He is probably the most respected player at the club.....tick.
No pattern of silly behaviour......well, just as we don't know what the full details of how his shoulder went pop, we don't fully know if this claim is true either. On the surface it seems to be.
This could actually turn him into a better leader.....it damn well should.

While you all make good points and while I don't know all the facts, it is not a hanging offense to question Callum's common sense and be disappointed in the outcome of stupidity.

In your defence, I will add it is also not a hanging offense to defend him like a defence lawyer who knows nothing and is just earning their money.

I'm hoping and betting the clubs view is somewhere in between these two 'attitudes'.

I love Mills as a player and agree with you all that he'll do his utmost to turn a negative into a positive....as he should.

So as I said yesterday, let's just see how it all unfolds shall we.

Mills tore his rotator cuff when he threw Konstanty under the bus. Lucky that the bus was parked or we would have had 2 players out for the season.

Pretty sure he wouldn't be captain if he had a pattern of silly behaviour. Anyway, hopefully he's back for most of the season. B&F night should be interesting. Backing the club to support him.

Of course they will.....publicly. We'd expect nothing less.

Millsy looked pretty forlorn last night- his heartfelt presser was very touching, I thought. In spite of everything I kinda felt sorry for him!

Just watching the Freo game. We played some great footy. Most teams would not be able to play like that. But it was in patches.

We were behind the 8 ball to start with. We had no specialist ruck. McLean & Amartey rucked against Jackson & Amiss. If we could play the style we played for most of the first quarter, for a whole game we would blow teams away. Unfortunately, we go back into our shell, tire badly and start dropping off.

Then a side gets a run on because after we go to a break we come out with that same tired look. They get back into the game. We come again about mid quarter or lose the quarter. After the half we are again refreshed & come out all rockets firing. Then in the last we drop off again & Longmire shuts the game down by playing a loose in defence, generally Mills or Heeney. This happens after every bounce as you have to maintain 6/6/6. This is what confuses people when they insist Mills is playing mids. Yes he starts every bounce in the mids but then goes back. This shutting the game down has lost & almost lost games. Take it on John

The new editions to the playing list are going to be good. I think we now have far more depth than last year.

Very happy with the trades- as you say, our depth is improved and now we just need a good KPD in the draft, as our trading appears to be done.

Did anyone else order a Buddy book? Mine arrived today and I have to say I was impressed with the cover and was excited to open it.

And that's where the excitement evaporated. First of all it really is nothing but photographs of his journey. There are quotes from Buddy and others and that's it! Oh my. Wowee (now I'm channelling Brian). The disappointment didn't stop there. The size and alignment of the font just scream amateur hour. This really is a coffee table book - all visuals and no substance.

At the very least, where was the ghost writer?Absolutely rubbish purchase imo.

Buddy was in Melbourne today to do a book signing.

When the details of his book was released, I read that it was just photos. So I didn't bother to pre order the book. I'll wait for his autobiography, (if one is released).

Slightly off-topic, but a timely reminder that off-field injuries are not just sustained by Swans players.

Golf balls, stingrays and garden stakes: 10 weird off-field injuries (afl.com.au) Mills' injury is included in this list.

FWIW, Mark Robinson has released his end of year top 50 players list in the Hun. Won't link as I always screw it up, but: Blakey at 26 the only Swan in other than (as expected), Errol at 7. Robbo has been high on Errol for a long time, so no surprise to see him place him among the true elite of the game - even if performances justify it.

I am watching matches without Buddy. We are going to have plenty of Amartey Party, Logan Showgun, Macca Pakka, these guys are gonna be really good as they mature and learn concentration
