Mitchell is a way off it. Showed glimpses but a couple times completely lacked awareness and got beaten one on one too often.
Jordon had 18 possessions but didn't look strong in the clinches.
I'll get bagged for this, but Hayward was awful. He plays poorly at the G and was weak at the contest. He played bruise free footy. He hit his average career stats of 11 per game.
Grundy was very good. Had great second efforts and goes all day.
    We had many good players.
We lost the game due to our poor field kicking, over possessing and poor delivery going forward when clear.
Wouldn't be too hard on Mitchell. Wasn't as bad as Warner and McInerney they both played a game in the ones at a similar stage of their career.

It's a relief to know that Wicks, Adams, Parker, Sheldrick and Cunningham are about to come back.

44 tackles to 60 and only 4 inside 50 says something.

Rampe definitely injured. I don't know where this hamstring "awareness" come from, but from the vision I saw of him, Rampe was limping like he's going to miss a month or more.

Our annual chaotic stinker. You can see it coming from a mile out where the bounce of the ball, our own mistakes and the run of the opposition is gonna get us.

Some ticks to Isaac, McInerney, Campbell, Rowie (though he went quiet after half time), and Grundy’s persistence.

But boy some of them were off their tucker today. Errol is a star but his defensive run was dreadful today. And some of the decision making . .

Chad, you’ve never kicked a goal from 60m so stop trying. Hayward, you had the distance so don’t try round the corner from 45m out at a slight angle. Roberts, you’ll learn from today between taking the game on and the impossible or dumb option.

And midfield, bombing the ball onto Amartey’s head - as much as he was terrible in that one contest vs Vlaustin - isn’t a successful strategy, particularly when Logan was making space on two or three occasions.

One other thing, and how should I put this delicately. Lloyd behind the ball deeply worries me. He’s been a star of the club and yes, had 32 possessions today. But I can’t think of a possession that hurt the opposition and giving him kick in duties wasn’t wise as he always goes short to the pocket. He used to create his own space down back but not today. In fact he occasionally ran himself or a team mate into trouble. I get with Harry out and Rampe off in the second half we might have thought we needed his leadership down back. But I’d rather see him higher up the ground. His instincts down back don’t lend themselves to how we’re trying to play.

PS: I’d love to hear from someone at the ground but our defensive run looked off today. Like, very off.

Another poor result at the ground we cannot play called the MCG. We have made 18 out of the last 21 finals but the way we play the MCG explains why we have won one premiership over the last 19 years. Why can any club beat us for contested ball? I see plenty room for Adams, Parker and Mills.

Funny. Thought we beat Collingwood there a couple of weeks ago and Melbourne in a Qualifying final in 2022. Never mind.

Missed opportunity today. We didn’t play well but should have gotten away with it. The Swans threw away around 5 goals in the last quarter through lack of composure. The space was there but they kept stuffing up.

Rowbottom and Heeney were good. Gulden, Chad, Blakey and J-Mac were below their best.

If Hayden doesn’t offer more as a tall foward I think the calls for Ladhans inclusion will increase.

Well we lost (and I agree with your sentiments) so we will likely see some changes....and I think there will be. Taylor in for sure, Cunningham if ready and maybe Ladhams.

How come you did not mention the 2022 Grand final against Geelong??? I feel its was Collingwood's poor play rather than our great game at the MCG 2 weeks ago. Yes occasionally we do play well there but mostly it has been poor over the years.

Maybe it's time put Florent in the guts and Fox back.

Maybe just accept it’s an away game for us, and it’s always a tough gig. Sometimes we play well there, sometimes we don’t. Today we were definitely not on song. Disappointing to lose, but our team was younger than Richmond and they’re not going to be in top form all season.

Same with me- our mojo was not there from the pieces I saw. Backing up was mostly missing, which Richmond did much better. Overall from what I saw, they applied a lot more pressure which made us fumble a lot and misdirect both kicks and handballs.

Yes, this is an important factor, all teams lose more away than at home.

You might ask: do the Swans have a worse record at the MCG compared with other away venues? If my numbers are correct, since 1982 they are 45-2-73 (W-D-L) at the MCG and 168-4-197 at all other away venues. So a slightly-lower winning percentage at the MCG, but not statistically significant if you run the tests.

Richmond wont make finals, if we cant be them with Martin Grimes and Lynch going off, we need to have a good look at ourselves
