    Richmond 'supporters'

Wouldn't it be motivating/rewarding being a Richmond player.

Even before the final siren the vultures made a bee line for the race and began circling.

You'd have thought they'd be well and truly used to it by now anyway and would have slipped into a withdrawn malaise a long time ago.

Yeah, and that dude who spat on the players.

Think he may cop it, and rightly so.

I do feel sorry for that guy.

I mean if you've spat at Richmond players after every weak performance over the last 20 years you'd permanently have that morning-after-a-big-night-dry-mouth feeling wouldn't you.

I can't think of anything worse.

I heard the Tigers are talking with AFL about moving their next home game to a less hostile enviroment... Fallujah.

The feral tiger fans would be real happy after last nights 75 point flogging by Adelaide. Its gonna be a long season for them. May as well send the wooden spoon to Punt rd now!

            I trust/hope your joking Steve.

I just can't believe, even for a Richmond fan, that any so-called supporter could actually spit on their own players.

That guy will/should be in deep @@@@ski.

So much for supporting your team. Should they actually be called supporters, cause there is'nt much supporting going on. Just plain old abuse.

If this is the passion that we are so-called "missing" - you can keep it.

Do like their club song though. We just won't be hearing it for a while ...

Disgusting - how you could even consider spitting on someone because they lost a footy match is just foreign to me. If anything, it'll make the players care less about who/what they're playing for. If anyone starts spitting on Swannies players...watch out

Definitely not a serious post BBB.

What is funny is that, amongst ourselves (on RWO that is) there seems to be debate over whether Sydney supporters treat our players too well (ie. the regular 'should the side be clapped off after a bad loss' thread).

I thought it was a disgrace that supporters would be so calculating in congregating around the race with the sole intention to give the side a spray - they started milling well before the final siren.

If that was where your seat was and as they went past you out of complete frustration let something slip then you've got half an excuse. But like Cometti said at the time it was a chance for the ferals to get their faces on TV.

However as you said BBB spitting on players is the lowest of the low even for such a low bunch.

Yep - spitting is low. So is crowding around the race for the sole intention of giving a spray. I'm not above letting fly with a string of "criticism" out of frustration, but I get over it after the moment.

I'm sure the genuine Richmond supporters are embarrassed by the idiots shown in full sparkling digital widescreen glory on the TV after the game.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I reckon the guy is regretting doing it by now - considering it's getting more nationwide coverage as C10 reports it on their newsbreaks (with appropriate close-up footage). Getting what he deserves...

Obviously not a true supporter.....a true supporter of a club would never do anything like that to their own players.

But is that any worse than just silently and passively slipping out of the ground during the last quarter like we do in Sydney. Hey, I'm not advocating fans resort to violence to get their message across. But to me the worst sin of all is to just get up and leave, as if to say "I'm not upset at the result, I can disassociate myself with the team's effort by getting up and forgetting I was even there." I have seen Sydney people leave matches at half time when we are getting flogged.

It seemed the only person furious at 4 lost points last night were RobbieAndo and myself. I just hate the way people seem to shrug their soldiers and go "Oh well."
