Eddie's Arrogance

Is anyone else as exasperated as I am over Eddie's arrogance over the renaming of Olympic Park to Lexus Bob Rose Oval without any consultation?

Eddie seems to think that being President of Collingwood is akin to being a dictator.

Collingwood's main argument seems to be that it was a dog track before they came along so that gives them the right to call it whatever they bloody like.

Unfortunately he will probably win on this one. I would like to know if any taxpayer dollars have contributed to the redevelopment though.

Eddie is also saying that once the facilities are up and running "every kid in Australia will want to get drafted to Collingwood".

Talk about living in a fantasy world.

I believe the State Government put up $12.5 million and Collingwood is putting up $1.5 million . Collingwood is getting the bargain of a lifetime

Government pays for most of the upgrade, while Collingwood only has to pay for the fit out and yearly rent. Collingwood had the rights to sell the naming rights to the Glasshouse part and not the training oval. What Eddie has done is really force a gun to the head of the Olympic Park Trust by using Bob Rose's name. Of course he knew what would happen, but he was thinking that the Olympic Park would just let it happen because they would fear the backlash from Magpie fans if they took away Bob Rose's name from the oval. He was wrong and its more than likely going to be have to be re-named, with an Olympians name.
