Bit behind on this debate so forgive me if it's been covered.
Anyway , what little I've read on the matter , two obvious objections appear unstated by coaches / media :
1.What if two goal umpires disagree with eachother ? We will still have one being wrong - which would solve nothing and presumably put more pressure on the field umpire to make the final call.
If you are paid to do a job - do it . If you can't do it - get out .
Why should a second person be employed to prevent you making a mistake?
2.There is a risk that two goal umpires would obstruct each others positioning and view - especially at a ground like the SCG where there's not an awful lot of space behind the goals anyway.
(Sub-question : if they collided with eachother , would they have to put themselves on report ?)
