    Roos as a FF

Just watching a bit of FoxFooty.

Old game, Lions v Cats seeing Roos playing largely at FF???

Seem to remember something about him starting his career there but can't quite work it out with Quinlin (sp?) in the side why they would want to??

I'm sure some of you Victorian folks could enlighten me.

Roos made his name as CHB for Fitzroy (with Pert at FB), but could also be switched to CHF (like Leppitsch is these days for the Lions). Can't recall him spending much time at FF, although it could have been possible as I seem to recall Quinlan kicking a lot of goals >50m, so must have been at CHF himself a bit. Roos was quite a reasonable forward given that he kicked 270 goals.

Roos played FF for his first few seasons, without doing much as Conlan,Quinlan etc would kick it over his head instead of passing to him.

He played wing in his younger days when he played for my Dad's school.

At least that's the way I understand it.

I reckon you might find that he topped the Roys goal kicking once or twice in the mid 80s. He excelled when he was sent there and I think the reason he was up there was because of injuries to key forwards.
