Damien Pevrill - How many weeks suspension?

For those who missed the incident in the Essendon v Brisbane game, one of the Brisbane players went down after a collision with an Essendon player, there was a group of players jostling around the brisbane player on the ground, and the Brisbane doctor tried to get through the players to treat his player.
Pevrill didn't take kindly to this and proceeded to grab the doctor and push him over on his backside.

This made me so angry. Look it wasn't life threating to treat the player ASAP, but it is just the principle of the thing.
IMO this needs to be made an example of, and I think Pevrill should be suspended for at least 2 weeks, I'm hoping for at least 4.

    Scum.

Thought about this some more - I think he should get 1 week or a heavy fine.

He should get 3 weeks due to the doc only there to help injured
      players.
He can be charge with assult due to the doc not being a player.

One week. If it was a player he pushed, not a doctor, it would have been a free kick, nothing more.

The doctor does need to be protected, but it's not as if he king hit him.

Ruffing up an official should get more than 2 weeks, I'm thinking maybe 6.

                  He deserves to get 6.

                  Officials shouldn't be touched.

Imagine if someone pushes an umpire over. Greg Williams gave a slight shove and he got 7 or 8 weeks. What's the difference in this case? An offical is an official in my book regardless of their position.

There was nothing in it, but he certainly should get suspended for at least 3 weeks as it was an official he pushed.

Well those of us who thought he would get a few weeks for the incident...we were wrong.

                        He only got a fine

So did the doctor, $2000, what a joke.

What was Peverill doing standing in the way of an injured player???

He should have got a full match payment plus a suspended sentence AT LEAST.

the doctor has had trouble before tho with jose romero and seems to be a bit of a trouble maker... pevrill has just seen a lion fall to his backside hes not in any trouble really and he just reacted to being pushed...,

its an unfortunate incident and for once the afl handled it properly

i cant stand essendon i cant stand pevrill but he didnt deserve to be suspended for something that wasnt delibrate and was probably a lot to do with the doctor looking to give a friendly shove to stir up the opposition which by all reports he likes to do... apparently he is very vocal!

IMO I find it hard to label the doctor a trouble maker after what happened with himself and Pevrill, and an incident that would have happened 4-5 years ago ( what did happen anyway? Can't recall the Romero incident? )

It was something deliberate, as Pevrill saw clearly who he was pushing over, when he pushed the doctor.

IMO the doctor had every right to push Pevrill out of the way to attend his to his player. The player on the ground in hindsight wasn't seriously hurt, but the doctor wouldn't have known that as there was a group of players around the player on the ground, so the doctor couldn't see his player and how hurt he was.

I'll ask you this, what if the player on the ground had been seriously hurt and by the doctor being bowled over, thus time being wasted, was the difference between if the player was in a wheel chair or not for the rest of his life ?

And dont say that the doctor could have pushed past one of his own players to get to the player on the ground, the doctor has all the rights in this case, and his main aim is to reach the player as quickly as he can, not tip tap around the circle of players looking for an opening - he has every right to ram his way through the pack to get the the injured player ASAP.

If Pevrill didn't see who was he was pushing then fine, no suspension, but what is so sad about this case is that he saw it was the club doctor and he pushed him right over.

A few choice to the doctor would have been sufficient.

Should have been made an example of, a precendent case ( if not one already ?) and given 4 weeks.
