    Is Crawford really staying?

Am I the only one who still thinks the Swans are working hard at getting Crawford to Sydney?

The profile, the skill and the experience make the trade important for the club (even if other younger players would be better in the long run).

Even posts like this on BF keep the rumour alive:
I have no affiliation with no club but this deal will go down thursday . Hard to say who the winner is (possibly Freo but with possibly angry backlash ) but there will be plenty of broken hearts. Heath Black To the Crows Rhett Biglands to St Kilda Josh Carr to the Crows Graeme Johncock...

I BLOODY HOPE NOT!!!!! All he wants is a media profile. He's said that himself. Remember Dermie? Lets NOT do that again! Though I reckon had Dermie not been wrongly suspended for 8wks (the video was inconclusive - he was done for his reputation!) he could've worked out just fine.

Great for building the code up here NOT! - a possibly bisexual, metro-sexual nancy-boy. Good player, but we need stories in the SPORTS pages, not Sydney Confidential! (btw No offence to any bisexuals etc reading this BUT getting Crawford here will just re-open all the old gay/poof comments about our great game and I'm sure NO-ONE wants that, esp when used as a put-down).

Well, for a start they are two different people.

I bet the Swans are thinking very hard about Crawford.

Well to tell you the truth, I dont think this is a. relevant, or b. such a bag thing.

For starters, he WOULD lift the profile of the game up here. Most people interested in sport know who he is, and that just creates interest in the game. Warick Capper was my hero when I was a kid (yes kids can be really stupid), but he created a focal point. Just like Plugger.

Secondly, for a sport that attracts a very high proportion of females as it is, I highly doubt a metro-sexual "nancy-boy" (who BTW tore us a new one last year in our crunch match Heirtage week, and almost did the same this year when we were on a serious slide), would hurt the cause for more supporters. Truthfully, I couldn't care less if the faithful were gay, green or Martian, just get them out there every week.

Personally, I think trade week iis the most awesome spectacle each year. True its very mercenary, but never will so many half-truths and blatant lies, as well as enormous conspiracies, be created in such a short space of time

The big difference between the two is Crawford is still in the twilight of his career, Dermie had passed his used by date.

Well done. You convinced me Crawf would be great for the Swans. We need someone who will be in Sydney Confidential. Someone who will be in those stupid "bachelor of the year" type stuff. We need a Craig Wing equilivant playing for us. Someone like that is a perfect match for the city.

And if anyone wants to use "gay" regarding AFL as a put-down. Stuff-em, who wants them supporting AFL anyway? I mean Rugby League is a bit too complicated for these morons and I wouldn't want them to have to think too hard watching the Swans.

All is quiet on the real estate front but it seemed a pretty solid rumour (see thread about two weeks ago). I would not be suprised if a deal was nutted out a few weeks ago... time will tell
