Predictions for Wizard rnd1?

if you want, let us know who and why? if anyone cares, here's what i reckon...

richmond over collingwood - good youngsters
fremantle over west coast - feeling about dockers
bulldogs over swans (don't hate me) - Eade's first real game as coach (sort of)
st. kilda over hawthorn - seems logical
brisbane over melbourne - melbourne are on a downward spiral
geelong over north - cats in a close one
carlton over essendon - essendon were terrible at nso
adelaide over port adelaide - P.A. won't try i believe.

of course i know the wizard cup is ambiguous and you can't tell who's going to play who and what have you, but it's always fun to guess.

west coast over fremantle- west coast are going places this year

swans over bulldogs- swans will take any trophy they can get and are desperate to come play in tassie in week 2

hawthorn over stkilda - saints wont try

Melbourne over Brisbane - brisbane dont need to care, melbourne up against it cos of broadbridge emotions etc

geelong over north - cats in a close one (agree)
carlton over essendon - just a hunch
adelaide over port adelaide - cos otherwise i hear about it all week

Well, given the news that the Dogs will be at nearly full strength and the Swans will still have an 'experimental' lineup, I won't be expecting too much from this match...

anyway my tips are

richmond over collingwood - they'll get people's hopes up early and turn into their usual rabble later on
fremantle over west coast - toss of coin
swans over bulldogs - (just) - won't be an impressive win though
st. kilda over hawthorn - st. kilda too good
brisbane over melbourne - it's in Cairns. Too much travel for the demons. Odd-numbered year.
geelong over north - can't stand the roos
essendon over carlton - bombers to bounce back from NSO
adelaide over port adelaide - I also think Port won't take it seriously

The result v Doggies is up in the air. I think we should win comfortably, but they will be quite a bit tougher than last year. The Wiz cup is strange though...it all depends how seriously we treat it. Last year's 100 point drubbing by Carlton was laughable seeing where both teams finished in reality...it was obvious we didn't take the Wiz seriiously in 2004, and the same may be true this year. It's going to be interesting though seeing how Rodney tries to match us... Swannies 4 me.
Also interesting to see how the Tigers go...I hope they do well this year...a stronger Richmond is good, as it hopefully means a diminishing bombers and pies (if that were possible, having failed miserably the past three seasons). Tigers to show some spine for me.
Derby shd be good...hope Freo can gain some guts this year, as I reckon its a pretty talented outfit. West Coast for me though.
Saints v Hawks...Who cares? Saints in a canter. Hawks couldn't win if they started now. But maybe Saints blew it all last year, caught up in their own PR. Upset on the cards? Not likely.
Brizzie v Melbourne....I think Brizzie will start to crank up early this year, and Im not convinced Melbourne are all that good. Brizzie by 10 (could be points or goals)
Geelong v Roos....dunno, a blue and white team will win this one for sure...having lost Cressa, I dont expect Geelong to be so inspired this year...Roos for me.
Bombers v Carlton....I just pray the Blues can win....Please!!!! if there really is a football god.....
Adelaide v Port....interesting!!!! Port shd win in a canter as well, but maybe having won the premiership now they'll take it easy and sit back and become passengers in 2005...

Sydney hardly ever wins Wizard Cup games 'cause they view them as no more than trial games and field below strength teams. I read that the Dogs will be at almost full strength so I'm tipping the Dastardly Dogs.

The Doggies (and Eade) certainly have a lot more to prove. We know our team is good and won't get fussed over a loss but the dogy fans need to see a glimmer of hope!

I would still prefer to see a win though! Preferably with starring performances from the youngsters.

I'm going to 2 games. Swans vs Dogs then after that, StK vs Hawks. StK will get through and so will Swans. If we end up playing Saints in Tasmania, I'm not sure if we'll win. Haven't StK played down there more than we have ?

After reading your tips and seeing that you got a lucky 3 right, I care enough to tell you to remind me never to listen to your tips if i'm having a bet come the season proper.
