Carr push for second AFL team

Carr push for second AFL team This should raise some interesting debate.

"Aspirationally we'd love, at some stage in the future, to provide the people of NSW with a game every week," he said.

There's a few supporters I think we'd be willing to donate.

            2nd team

Before you can even consider a 2nd NSW based team you have to make alot greater inroads into the Rugby League dominated market to try to generate the quality of local based players. There are only so many top quality players available. You have to have a strong local base talent rather than rely on interstate players all the time.At this stage the quality required to be competitive is not strong enough in NSW Metropolitian area to make the club Financially viable.

They could be called 'The Storm'.

There will be a second AFL side in NSW, but I don't see that happening until the Swans win a premiership. The Swans generated a lot of interest in 1996 when they made the Grand Final, and many of the so-called "bandwagon" supporters that the club attracted for the first time that year are still with the Swans. If the Swans win a flag, that attention will be even greater. That is the time to establish a second side in Sydney, and not before.

i personally wouldnt go for the team, but they would get a good following and it could work!

I'd rather the game's admin think of grassroots development in the Sydney region first, rather than expand the national league by adding a second Sydney franchise.
