Ch 9 late broadcast of Bris v St Kilda

Bloody Ch9. It was bad eough that the Bris v St Kilda game was not scheduled to start until 11.30pm in Sydney, but then the crappy NRL Footyshow went til 11.12pm, meaning Nightline was late starting. But did Ch 9 cut Nightline short? No. Instead they extended it until midnight!!!! That meant you had to sit through 47 minutes of an extended Nightline to wait for the footy to start 30 mins late, then watch Eddie crap on until the game itself started at 12.17am! An absolute disgrace. I rang Ch 9 last night and complained. They show utter contempt for their Sydney AFL audience. I urge all of you to do the same and to also complain to the AFL. I am going to start a campaign to try to get the AFL broadcast rights taken off 9. Grrrrrr. Needles to say I started falling asleep just before half time and went to bed.

BTW, Brisbane were surprisingly good. Ominous.

Yep, sat down at 11.30 hoping to watch the game and had to wait 30 minutes for the AFL to appear and then to go through all the tedious pre-game rubbish. Very poor form indeed.

I watched the game on Fox last night, but that's typical cry-baby stuff from Ch 9.
As if Eddie's tantrums on the footy show and during last night's broadcast weren't bad enough, moving the coverage back half an hour just because some other stations have had the gall to bid against Ch 9 for the next round of TV rights is disgusting.
If Ch 9 want public support to keep the rights, they'll have to do better than that.

The coverage was nothing short of disgraceful!

I was also really angered by the way those two Brisbane players continued to 'hit-up' Riewoldt after he broke his collarbone!
Couldnt they tell he was carrying his shoulder and that he was in a great deal of pain - it wasnt necessary to carry on like that!

Tribunal will be busy this week with that game - heaps happened!!
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

I bet more than a few will have missed the end of the game on their recording. Luckily I sat down at midnight to watch a bit of the game before going to bed (I have a PVR so can wind back to the beginning) only to find that it hadn't yet started. Quickly extended the recording by an extra 45 mins to make I got the end.

Those who sat thru nightline would also have been given the result of the game along with news or Riewoldt's injury.

Nine does that every time in the news just before they show delayed games.

Wasn't that the whole idea of it?

Easy to bag the Brisbane players for doing it, even though it mightn't have been morally right - if a Swans player did it and it won them the game ...

Anyway, i thought you were of the view that injuries to other teams were rather funny.
Sit down or i swear to God i'll have you shot.

I had the MMM call from Melbourne going over the net, even though I had the option of waiting less than an hour to watch the game on Fox. Was trying to get the live stats on afl.com.au (took me about 15 mins to realise where the link was - useless site that it is), but until sometime in the 3rd quarter, they still had the ones from last year's GF!

Started watching the Ch 9 coverage knowing all that had happened but feel asleep very soon after...quite simply, 9 have too many commitments to give AFL a proper showing in NSW/QLD. And it only gets worse late June/early July with Wimbledon!

It was a disgrace having the game so late, I didn't get to bed till almost 11:30pm. Shocking. They should've started the game a 7:30.

Tipping = 1/1 plus I tipped Bris by 23, (perfect start.)

I didn't realise that Fox were showing it. Thought that they couldn't do that if one of the FTA channels was showing it, even if delayed by several hours. And the TV guide on afl.com didn't show it as being shown on Fox.

Are night games normally shown much earlier on Fox?

My plan was to tape the game and watch it first thing Friday morning without hearing the final result. I'd listened to it for a while on Radio National 630 (Sydney) and it looked like being an exciting finish. Unfortunately, I only grabbed a two hour tape which I set from 12.00 until 2.00am. Guess what...it cut out with 21/2 mins left of the THIRD Quarter ,,,,AAARRRGGGHHH....You wonder how they could possibly be more than half and hour over their schedule time...surely not the NRL footy show??? A big thumbs down to the former (hehe) No. 1 station.....
BTW I must've heard Eddie use the expression "shinned" about three or four times eg he shinned the ball (appeared to mean a poorly connected kick). How long has this expression been in the commentator's lexicon?

Fox is allowed to show the Fri night (or in this week's case, Thurs night) games in Sydney at 9:30. The Sat night games end up being shown on Fox (Live) and the other on 10, usually around the 10:30 mark, with it also being shown on Fox around the same time.

Scott, the game did start just after 7:30....local time
