    Best Piece of Commentary?

I think Clinton Grybas has put in his effort for the best piece of commentary in 2005. After the final siren in the Dogs Tigers game, he yells excitedly "Richmond have now won 2 games in a row!!".

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.

Your determination, your tenacity and your under-rated skill is why you have become my favourite player!

            Eddie????

every second kick, during the Bris v St K game, was "shinned" according to Eddie. I lost count of how many times he said shinned. Even on the radio he preempts the play and usually gets it wrong.

            Eg. During a Sydney game
Ed - "Schwass hits Plugger on the chest"
What really happened - Plugger took the ball at full stretch over his head.

            Ed - "Beautiful chip pass"
What really happened - The kick was a scrubber that rolled along the ground, and was lucky to be picked up by the recipient!

I happened to see Carey during the post-match remarks on Sunday. He jst sat there staring at the camera like stunned mullet while the other two discussed the game. The volume was turned down but Carey appeared to take no part in the discussion at all. He reminded me of one of those nodding dogs some folk put on the back shelf of cars.

Eddie calls it old style most of the time, ie without judgement, without being a smart arse and without trying to be some sage that he aint.

I know the Collingwood and Lions stuff is all hot at the moment, but for the most part, he's a good caller.

As for the ancient history you're referring to on Plugger, well it's hard to comment because my memory isn't that great for such insignificance.

I always find Robert Walls saying "He needs to go back and kick the goal" most helpful. There could be thousands of other things a player could do with the ball, 25m out, right in front.
Sit down or i swear to God i'll have you shot.

I love how Walls says - "you wouldn't want the ball to in anyone else's hands" when the 6th best player is lining up for a critical shot at goals...

I quite like Eddie as a commentator.

I like most of them actually, except Rex Hunt, Drew Morphett, Walls, and anyone in WA or SA (a perhaps a couple of others I've forgotten).
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

"[T]here are things that matter more and he's reading and thinking about them: heaven, reincarnation. Life and death are the only things that are truly a matter of life and death. Not football."

You're right. It's painful to listen to Eddie's commentary.

Why does everyone like dennis so much? i find him so boring. Every kick and handball is "interesting".

Eddie McQuire isn't that bad actually,

I agree with TheHood,he does call it old style,

                          no hype,no BS!

                          I've always liked Tim Lane,

Cannot stand Gary Lyon or Steve Quartermain.

Good ole Bruce McAvaney is still a favourite for me and one good reason why seven should have a slice of the footy pie in 2007!

It is hard to beat when Bruce gets truely excited and labels something "SPECIAL!"

In recent times, I like Huddo as a caller with his best comment being the 2003 qualifying final between Sydney and Port Adelaide in Adelaide. I think Willo had just kicked a goal in the second quarter to put us around 40 points up when Huddo yells...

                            " I SEE IT BUT I DON'T BELIEVE IT!"

                            Great call!
